Europa league is the best chance of CL qualification now.....plenty of good teams in it still, would be a great achievement to win it.....

You did say that some love a moan & generally u were condescending of supporters who were in favour of protesting because you were willing to pay 5,000 yourself to help the fans buy the club. Thats how you came across to me. A football club is not like an ordinary business hopefully you realise that sometime soon.

I don't recall saying some love to moan but even if I didn't say it I'm happy to say it now, because it's true. Some people do love to moan, that's hardly earth shattering news is it?

I absolutely agree that LFC should not be run just like an ordinary business and I was prepared to put my money where my mouth is so the club became fan owned and could be run in a fan centric manner but unfortunately not enough fans were prepared to support that initiative so it faded away and now some fans are moaning that the people who did put their money on the line are deciding how they wish to price tickets to their football club.

So he's going to manage through the pain barrier, just to annoy Sturridge,

Would it annoy him? Lad doesn't appear to care at this stage. Seems more interested in playing the rap star.

The rumour is he doesn't. Has no interest in being at the club.

His lack of appearances suggest it could be true, however having not seen him angle for a move to London, it would suggest it may not be true. I reckon it is the case though

Sadly we are not one of the good teams left in it. This team is too gutless to go and win that competition. They'd crap themselves in a high pressure 2 leg ko game against decent opposition.

I was at the game on Saturday and watched the warm-ups. The subs warmed up closer to the main stand side of the pitch so we had a handy view of it.

Anyway, Sturridge sauntered through the drills at walking pace and didn't finish the entire warm-up session. Lucas, (who also started on the bench so was warming up with him) seemed to be having words with him as he left early to go back down the tunnel. Sturridge kept walking away and threw his arms up in the air in a kind of "What?" gesture. Lucas didn't look impressed

Obviously I could have completely misread the situation but that's how it looked to me. I get the impression that Sturridge has mentally checked out at this stage

Sturridge to come on in the 65th minute score a goal in the 68th minute and build up some peoples hopes that he is the saviour risen and top 4 is back on just before getting injured in the 74th minute.

I don't think we have to worry about Europa League football next year as we're going to win the competition this year and secure an automatic Champions League spot.

Aren't we already in it, via the league cup (City are bound to qualify for the Champs league already) - is does it not go to the runner up any more?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

I do remember this being mentioned more than once by some of his ex team mates alright.....more in Q+A's like "Whos the worst trainer"?.....not sure if it was down to zero interest but yea, has a reputation of not giving his all in training...

Surely it would make more sense for him to play and then get a club to buy him. No one would buy him with his injury record.

    No it doesn't.

League Cup winner gets a Europe League spot, unless they've already qualified through the League, in which case it reverts to the highest placed Premier League to not have a European spot already.

So I've hit a nerve by saying your posts are void of content.

I simply stated I would not like to be in the Europa league next season, as I think it would benefit us, and your lost your Shít tabloid style.

I think it would benefit us next season but only that. A good few squad players wouldn't see much game time and some of the young lads would be loaned out, and as can be seen this season, most of them don't get enough game time out on loan.

Sakho and Henderson have been pretty atrocious since they came back from injury, neither have any business starting these days really.

Hope we see a decent shake up tomorrow

    ward
    Flanagan-Ilori-caulker-smith
    Lucas
    brannagan---Allen
    Ojo
    Sturridge----ibe

Sick of watching mignolet so ward gets a start for me, sakhos been ****e lately and im not sure if lovren is fit so is go with caulker and Ilori, maybe throw kolo in.
The front 3 is pretty much raw pace, sick of watching the likes of lallana Milner et al lumbering around the final third. Have no interest in seeing benteke playing either.

Football is so fúcking simple really.

Liverpool 13/14 and Leicester 15/16. In many ways, they're remarkably similar.

Pace and power up front, and relentless work rate. If you have that, you'll trouble most.

What we've done, is pack ourselves full of skilful, but tippy-tappy, flimsy players who've little pace, power or killer instinct.

    It's sad to see.

The balance of our squad is an absolute shambles. Shameful.

Like ourselves in 13/14, they are also getting goals from all areas of the team. Huth with two at the weekend.

Skrtel scored 7 or 8 goals in 14/15.

    We're pitiful from corners now.

Leicester also have the luxury of a light work load as Liverpool had in 2013-14. Much easier with a week between games. Next season they'll get slaughtered (relatively speaking) if they are in Europe as now seems certain.

It's his job to set the wall though - He cocked that up royally by putting it too far to his left so Johnson didn't even have to get it over because he could just curl it around

How can SOS be taken seriously, they are looking for removal of categorization and 70% of the ground £30 or less. That would massively effect the clubs finances.

On the other hand, it sets you up for more long term failure.

If you want to be a big club, you have to exist with the constraints that come with that.

We had a great 13/14 season, but were an embarrassment the following year with extra games to contend with.

The players need to get used to playing lots of games - that's just the reality, and taking an easy year break only puts off that learning curve.

And then what? We end up with a tonne of games the following year and need to bring in another batch of backup players to manage it?

The only really sustainable way to grow as a club is to keep dealing with lots of games and improve our standings year upon year. Keep growing the squad in a consistent, balanced capacity so that within 2 years or so we have a stable group who have been together for a while and can switch in and out. A team who have built the experience together of facing an onslaught of matches, who don't treat it as some sort of unfair disadvantage, but instead can deal with it as the norm.

SOS are a socialist organisation using LFC as a stage to broadcast their political agenda. They are a tiny but vocal collection of fans relative to the hundreds of millions of LFC fans world wide and only represent themselves.

The irony of a socialist union dedicated to the advancement of a football club who are paying some of it's staff over £120,000 a week (Benteke and Milner apparently) and others a mere £330 a week is beyond funny. It's on a par with

It would not 'massively effect the clubs finances'

From this summer just from Hong Kong the PL will get 90 million from 50 million now.
The clubs between them will get 1 billion from overseas money.

    That's not domestic.

The increase just from Hong Kong is enough to pay for every premier ticket in the league next season twice over, that's just the increase from Hong Kong not what they already get.

Spirit of Shankly were set up to deal with the ownership issues around Hicks & Gillett not to have a political agenda. Are you even aware of the the work, protests, campaigns organised by SOS & other groups (Kop Faithful)- as regards H&G? Without their work and the campaigns they led which got many supporters onboard we might not even have a club. I'm sure you got heavily involved.

All their work and aims have been to ensure Liverpool have owners who run the club properly and also in the best interests of genuine, loyal, informed Liverpool supporters. People who actively care about the club.

Cheaper away bus travel, issues around police at away games, more transaparency from the club around ticketing. The LFC Supporters Committee which communicate directly with the club came about from the work of SOS.
Acting as a go between, between supporters and the club around certain individual issues which I know for a fact they have helped certain people out on to their satisfaction.

So will SOS be in goverment in the England now in a few years?

I am crying laughing at your post, we really do have some absolute beauts who follow us!!!!

You agree that 2013/14 was a good year and we can put a lot of that down to being able to focus on the league matches (and obviously Luis). I think most managers would like to work with a quality core, in the short term, and if relative success is achieved then you address that situation.

What you have said about being 'the only really sustainable way to grow a club' is just wrong. It's better to be 'facing an onslaught of matches' rather than having an 'unfair advantage' (which is what i presume you meant). Again, this makes no sense.

We all, as fans, have different opinions and are never going to agree all the time.

I simply think that going in to preseason (this summer) without the problem of the Europa league would greatly benefit the club next season.

I'm glad you got a good laugh out of it, it's nice to know that I'm not the only one who gets such entertainment from some of the posts on here.

Just to get back to boring facts for a minute

The following statements in bold are taken directly from the SOS website

"The socialism I believe in is everyone working for each other, everyone having a share of the rewards. It's the way I see football, the way I see life." Of all the quotes a group of football club supporters could choose to put on their homepage from one of the greatest managers of all time they choose a political statement. Of course they aren't a bunch of socialists

In fairness to them though they aren't shy about patting themselves on the back nor do they shrink from inflating their own high opinion of themselves.

"Why do you think you represent all Liverpool supporters?

The Union does not profess to represent all Liverpool supporters. All we can profess to represent are our members, but by extension on some issues, the wider supporter base.

However, it has been clear from the work that we have done and the campaigns that we have led that all Liverpool supporters have benefited from the work we have undertaken on issues such as travel, the removal of Hicks and Gillett, ticketing prices and allocations and a change in attitude to the way in which the Club interacts with supporters."

And best of all, despite not representing anyone but themselves and their small group of members they declare that "where we see the Club’s owners acting against the Club's best interests, as identified by our members, then we will speak out and if necessary, act."

Who decides what's in "the clubs best interests"? Not the owners whose capital is a risk. Of course not. It should be a small group of agenda driven activists who have no financial investment in the club and have done SFA to promote fan ownership of the club.

SOS are the moral guardians of Shankly's socialist political vision and should continue to provide much entertainment for many years to come with some of their harebrained ideas.

I wonder why there is a branch of SOS in London, Norway and Sweden but none in Rep of Ireland? Could be an opening for you there Sundance :p
