Obviously, they all live in a 5km radius of the mountain, too. Uncanny.

There seems to be very little enforcement for this time round. I follow a lot of Kerry amateur photographers and they are all over the shop taking photos (This is from their stories rather than feed, so it's not old shots they are just posting).

The Council have cancelled the Saturday morning Tralee Farmers Market until further notice.

Such a pity now I have to go inside a supermarket instead of just collecting the order outside in the Brandan car park.

Can't understand the reason for this decision..

I would think it's to stop groups from coming together

Is it Dingle Sushi you get? I was wondering if they were operating in any way now?

I was on my way to Tescos and saw a couple of ambulances and gardai racing to the hospital. I straight away heard on the radio that there was a crash in Farranfore. Heard more sirens a while later. Hopefully everyone involved is ok!

One woman passed away. 4 others injured.

It was at Lawlors Cross, a few kilometres outside Killarney. A real bad accident blackspot.

I could have sworn they said Farranfore on the radio, maybe they said there were diversions. Very sad news. RIP to the woman :(

I saw the same. The first ambulance was getting a Garda escort so knew it must have been serious. My condolences go out to the family.

Made much deadlier by the amount of numpties who think it's an ideal overtaking spot. (General comment, not in any way making any assumptions on what happened today. Condolences to all involved.)

You can't beat Magda's sushi. I was talking to her about it. Made fresh. Must go into the market some Saturday.

The market has been cancelled due to level 5 which is a pity.

Are the protestors taking some time off over in Debenhams lately? I've gone over a few times in the last few weeks and the tent has been empty. Seems like an ideal time for Debenhams to drive in and take their things.

Pretty sure they are still there, I've seen them inside. They may be on a reduced number of people now, but they haven't left it yet.

Can't understand why Debenhams can't just drive in an take their stock. The protestors would be trespassing.

The protesters aren't trespassing though, they aren't inside the building. I have seen videos where the management of the centre have been very supportive of them and appeared to also not allowed trucks to come in and pick up stock. All they are doing is blocking the trucks getting to the delivery areas. I don't think that can be seen as trespassing.

It's an official Mandate strike...If they entered the old Debenhams store..they could be removed by the gardai...
But that's all that will happen.. the gardai do not want to get involved in a civil matter..as long as there are no assaults or trespass....they will just let it play out.
If head office tried to force a truck past the striking staff.... then that's when it could get tasty.. but again, I cant see that happening either.
Chances are in a few months they will settle for 3 weeks per anum imo

    Farmers market back this Saturday.

Why have they put it back on again?

I think it has to do with the fact that they weren't believed essential... but as food retailers..they can actually fall under that umbrella.
It'll be a small turnout this weekend, no sushi or bàcus and a few more won't be there either

Sitting at the PC and getting lost down all sorts of rabbit holes I came across the Kerry Home Industrial School for Protestant Boys: http://www.childrenshomes.org.uk/TraleeKerry/

It opened in 1872 on Princes Quay (Street), and closed in 1884 when the remaining 12 boys were transferred to a similar Dublin school.

Apparently it was located where the Brandon Conference Centre is now. I looked at the historical 25in map (1888-1913) on GeoHive (http://map.geohive.ie/mapviewer.html) and there was indeed a largish building there.

Interesting that Princes St was once a Quay - presumably because of it's proximity to the canal basin.

It was once actually a quay. The Big River runs down the middle of it and was uncovered from the Dominican church to where it joins the Lee until some point in the 1800s when it was covered over.

It looks like they have decided not to refurbish the courthouse and are going to move it to the island of geese. Shameful IMHO, in the same week that the council decided there was no suitable site for a small bikepark in Tralee that only required an acre or 2. The council couldn't give a damn about rejuvenating the town centre as far as I can see. Just business as usual for them and no incentive to think outside the box. http://traleetoday.ie/daly-expresses-disappointment-at-decision-to-move-courts-from-tralee-courthouse/

The council has been determined to hijack the Island of Geese since day 1, and the BS public consultation has only ever been a bit of PR to give the mere mortals the impression that they were going to be listened to.

"De Denny's site was left to de people of Tralee" is the cry from Facebook....
It was dumped on the KCC's lap ...it has cost at least 1.5 million euro to date andd I don't think any of the hoi polloi put their hands in their pockets for this?
The KCC is cashstrapped...the golden goose is long dead, so ...there will be shops. apartments...and most definitely a new court house as the court services had set aside up to €4 million to purchase a new site.
What did people actually think was going to happen? ...a bike/skateboard park in a prime site in town?! Not even the most gullible person would have believed that
