Pretty sure prices are displayed in there, check before you order & if too expensive for you, then you don't have to stay!

i think the man is just expressing an opinion about the price of what he got . And I'm glad that he has expressed an opinion about it here on the Kerry thread. If I go there I'll be aware of prices etc. Also I'm sure the man is capable of checking a price board and making a decision with regard to whether he wants to stay or not. I'm not sure why he needs to be told this, he didn't ask for any advice. ....

Obviously he didn't check the board as he got a shock when he had to pay his bill.
    It's the Tralee thread btw,

OPEN auditions will take place in The Grand Hotel in Tralee (and not The Imperial Hotel as stated earlier) this weekend for a feature film shooting in Kerry in January.

Details on the film are being kept very much under the radar, as a number of high profile talent are attached.

The production company behind the film is looking for talent of all ages, from 18 years of age upwards to attend the audition and will be looking to cast supporting roles. All the roles will be paid.

Speaking to us, an unnamed person from the film says; “we are looking for people of all ages, backgrounds, male and female and above the age of 18. We welcome everyone in their 20’s, 30’s, 40’s 50’s, 60’s and so on. We just want to sit down and have a chat with them, and if they have a prepared piece, then they should bring that. Also, if you have no experience in acting, that is okay too. If you have experience, then that is a bonus. We are looking for raw fresh talent of all ages”.

The open auditions will take place from 2pm to 5pm on Sunday, December 18 at the Grand Hotel in Tralee. All welcome.

    That sounds nice!

There's something going into the corner unit on Castle Street/Edward st (opposite St. John's). There used to be a pharmacy there years ago. Anyone know what's going in there?

Not sure. It used to be Buckleys chemist. Great to see it finally occupied again. Now if the paint shop on the other corner could be let, it would enhance that junction. Home at weekend and noticed a fair few vacant shops on Castle St whereas rest of town centre seems to be relatively full. Old FAS, Lee records, Willie Ryle, Utensils units all still vacant etc.

No parking, silly rents, even sillier rates it's going to be a while before any of those shops get filled again I fear

They won't be long realising he is a complete bluffer.
In saying that there are a lot of bluffers in the personal trainer/gym industry.

You mean their newest unit in Edward street? Too quiet basically. I don't think they even advertised the fact they had opened a new one there. Plus it wasn't open very long, only about 5 months or less. Their main one in Abbey court is still there.

Sorry I answered earlier to say their newer Edward st one was closed, but the just heard their Abbey court one is too! Very sad news. They're open at least 25 years. Not a nice thing to happen.

*Updated to add that apparently the Edward st one is open today so perhaps they are moving it all in there.

Is it not the other brother who has the Edward St shop, wouldn't think they would be moving it all lock, stock & barrel up there

The older brother runs the business now since their father passed away a few years ago. The abbey court one is closed, and he had opened the Edward st one in July selling mainly food. I don't know what's happened to be honest. If anything, the rent in Edward st would be a lot lower, so it's not unlikely they wouldn't move it there.

Benners Organises Night For Friends To Catch Up At ‘Home For Christmas’

THE night before Christmas Eve is normally one of the biggest of the year around town with people arriving back home for the festive season.

With this in mind, Benners Hotel Castle Street have come up with something a little different this Christmas for all of the folks who want to catch up on Friday, December 23rd.

‘Home for Christmas’ is offering a new venue for the over 28’s with two DJs in different rooms all in one venue.

Local DJ Gary Fitz will be playing all the great tunes from his Ecleto collection in the Courtyard bar, while DJ Mick will be playing all the popular music with some Christmas classics in the main night club.

Traditionally a very busy night in town, Benners wanted to offer a different venue to the older revellers.

Mary McQuinn and Orlagh Winters came up with the idea a number of months ago and have worked hard to ensure that the night will be a success.

They said it is something new and it was due to the amount of people asking about an alternative venue to mix with people their own age that the concept is now coming to fruition.

Festive cocktails and treats will be available on the night to help all those attending get into the Christmas Spirit.

Tickets are selling fast and are available at Benners Hotel for €10. Doors are open at 11pm.

Sounds like a good night! I always loved going to the mall or Paddy macs on Christmas Eve & meeting so many people I hadn't seen in either years or since the previous Christmas! Was usually the best night out! It's been years since I've done that! Won't be at that night in Benners unfortunately, although thankfully I am going out one night over Christmas!! Can't wait, especially as it's my first night out since having my baby!! God help me! Lol

Think ill stick with the mall that night, tradition at this stage to head in there for a few pints and meet everyone.
The DJ in benners won't help with conversation either.
€10 is a bit cheeky too I think
