Hiking in Connemara

Hi,

I am visiting Connemara this weekend, near Carraroe. I would like to take a 2-3 hour hike somewhere nearby. Preferably somewhere with a bit of an ascent to take in the views of the surrounding areas. I am a novice but am have completed several marathons so consider myself fit.

Does anybody have any recommendations or links that might be of use?

It's all very flat about an Ceathru Rua. Nearest hill is above Inbhear

If you head up to north of the N59 (Galway Clifden road), there's plenty to choose from.

Diamond Hill in the Connemara National Park, Letterfrack is a nice climb on a well designed track.
I know it's a bit of a drive from Carraroe (65km) but it's a good workout with a proper peak and amazing views.

Great way to climb a proper mountain without the worries of getting lost, covered in muck etc. About a 2hr hike to do the full loop.
