    Team News

Depay impressed as a second-half substitute against Sheffield United, which may earn him a recall to the starting lineup for this trip to the North East.

His inclusion may come at the expense of Juan Mata, who was hauled off after the restart in the same game following a rather anonymous outing.

Jesse Lingard is also back in the squad, but Bastian Schweinsteiger may sit this fixture out after he picked up a knee problem.

As for Newcastle, Emmanuel Riviere, Jack Colback and Rolando Aarons are all said to be pushing for returns from injury, although it remains to be seen if McClaren will throw any of that trio straight back into the team.

However, captain Fabricio Coloccini is a doubt because of a hamstring complaint. Should the Argentine fail to recover in time, it is likely that Jamaal Lascelles will deputise.

    Newcastle possible starting lineup:
Elliot; Mbemba, Lascelles, Dummett, Janmaat; Sissoko, Tiote, Wijnaldum, Thauvin, De Jong; Mitrovic

    Man United possible starting lineup:
De Gea; Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Borthwick-Jackson; Carrick, Schneiderlin; Depay, Herrera, Martial; Rooney

Is young available.. if he is I reckon we will see him come back into the team over Jackson.

    0-2 I reckon.

0-0 at half-time and a single goal winner either way in the 2nd half (deflected shot, keeper no chance).

Game 3 of the 10 game winning streak. 3-0 (Morgan header, Herrera shot from outside the box, Rooney, Martial kicks it off him into the net)

The invincibles to continue their 2016 hot streak.

Rooney loves scoring against Newcastle too so he will continue his stunning GPG ratio in 2016.

  • Schneiderlin as the only DM please.
    Herrera @ CM please
    Young on the Wing please

Two fairly evenly matched teams. Newcastle's league position belies the talent they have in their squad so I expect a tough first half for Utd and to be asleep for most of the second.

I agree that Newcastle have improved a lot in the last few weeks. They seem to actually give a **** now where before they played like a pub team, no organisation or desire. In terms of Newcastle's improvement, them being at home and United's average performances and some, yes any result is possible tonight I feel however I think calling them evenly matched teams is a bit of a stretch in fairness. I have a feeling it will be a good game though Newcastle like to attack which hopefully makes for an open game.

Hopefully not, maybe somebody will take inspiration from him, lose the head and get sent off :)

If I remember right, Young got the winner last year in a poor enough game

That Blind and Fellani are integral to this Utd team says it all really. And that a lot of fans still have no problem with this says even more.

Fellaini FGS 15/1 Betfair and anytime 5/1 lets go

Have 6 cans of red bull, a jar of ciffee, a bag of cocaine and a cattle prod at the ready to get me through this.

What should I get for the second half?

    What does it say precisely?

That we have to make the best of what's available?

I also havnt seen many/any saying they are completely satisfied with it either.

    Please try harder.

Marveaux on the bench?? I forgot he was still hanging around at Newcastle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

McClaren has to allow Wijnaldum to play in a more central position in midfield. He was immense against Arsenal and is absolutely wasted on the wing.

Tiote needs a big game here too. Very prone to giving up the ghost but he too was good against Arsenal and looked a lot more competent than I've seen in a long time.

Game on TV. Might actually show up and do something.

Newcastle to pick united off on the break and win 2 goals to 1. More of the same from United. Lots of possession but utterly horrible to watch. Winjadlum to play a big role in offensive counter attacks

If Shelvey was playing I'd say a draw but I'm edging towards the mancs in this one, decent signing for you lot though.

Blind needs to be put out of his misery. Never been good enough for Utd yet he has plenty of fans. Fellani has his critics and the failure lies entirely with Van Gaal to be fair.
Ha, 5 goals in a United game, could you imagine
5 shots on target would be a start.

A classic 1-0 United. Own goal off somebody's arse guaranteed

Rooney is looking noticeably fitter, leaner the last couple of weeks or so
