They originally offered it to her though, no? When she came out with the line about not being ready until March after previous cut. They pushed on and made it anyway, most likely figuring to feed the winner to cyborg, who of course has gone and ****ed things up

Yeah I meant wait for her when she wanted more time. Then when she popped there would be no fight made and it would be easier to scrap the whole thing.

bring me your chicken leader bear

Khabib is really grating now. for a guy of undoubted talent he's not a paperview draw, constantly drops out of fights and whens the last top caliber guy he fought.

Christ for his moaning about Conor, Conor's last five fights

    Mendes #1 FW
Aldo FW champion and possibly #1 P4P
    Diaz #6 LW
    Diaz #4 LW
    Alvarez LW champion

    Whats his last five fights????

You sure you even trust the rankings even though you can notice Diaz jumped 2 places at LW even though Conor was fought at 170, How you know PPV draw he has never been applied the UFC marketing paint really and he's only been on one PPV, the Pat Healy fight 3 years ago he's been scheduled alright but never headlined a fight night even.

    Anyway twas...

Michael Johnson #6 (Holds win over Tony Ferguson)
Daryl Horcher #NA (Fight taken after Tony Ferguson pulled out)
RDA #5 (Now Former champ scheduled to fight Conor before Diaz detour)
Pat Healy #10 (Snapped 7 fight win streak)
Abel Trujillo (set a record 21 takedowns in a single bout)

    Why is what surprising?
He would of went up in most people rankings on reddit, sherdog, and on here. So of course he goes up in the eyes of the media.

After 196 Diaz went up everywhere in people estimation. He was considered a durable gatekeeper at LW in Feburary. In April people were suddenly going on non stop about his elite BJJ. It was hilarious, the amount of long time Diaz fans appearing everywhere. Here included. The prefight opinions here were very different 196 vrs 201.

It wasn't surprising that's the thing...was just pointing out that it's typical of the rankings and if he trusts them as much as I do (very little) ;) ...like many examples...Darren Elkins last fought July this week moved up a place ahead of Mirshad Bektic who last fought in October makes sense right??...just aswell they meet at UFC 209 :)

It gas Diaz had a marching band the lot soon as he fought Conor, all these supporters no where to be seen in Florida when he was 3/1 underdog against an in form Michael Johnson.

JDS v Struve called off due to injury to the Sky Scraper, first main event of the year down many more to come.

A Michael Johnson who's since seemingly become a mediocre striker. Didn't most expect a big dig was his best hope against Khabib?

Hes a good fighter on his day owl MJ he lit Barboza up boxed him around and got into a brawl with Khabib, like some people with wrestling backrounds they are used to being in top when it comes to grappling, stick them on bottom and they arent effective, Ferguson will not be getting his wrist controlled by Khabib thats for sure.

    :confused::confused::confused:
The rankings are set by media vote. If it's not surprising that he went up in people estimation after the fight, he it's completely expected that he goes in the ranking despite not fighting at LW.

You are making out like its shady

Have you seen the panel who make the rankings since the summer? 18 nobodies hand picked by the ufc. Rankings are a joke.

I haven't seen them and I've no idea how you get on to it. (I certainly wouldn't be arsed doing it if it wasn't paid).

But using the Diaz example, he suddenly became flavour of the season last march. MMA fans are extremely fickle. Here and everywhere else. A ranking system based on votes will always be just as fickle - regardless of UFC influence

Khabib v Tony official for 209 per Ariel

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 7,269 ✭✭✭Gamebred

Only bonus of the interim being on the line is we get 5rds.

  • Registered Users Posts: 735 ✭✭✭Django99

Yeah true, I think it's actually one of the most interesting match ups ever in MMA. Can Khabib stay out of striking distance? Will Tony be happy to go to the ground? Can Khabib go 5 rounds?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,850 ✭✭✭Depp

bad fight for khabib, wont have it near as easy on the ground as hes had in the past and tony tools him up standing, ferg tko in the 3rd or the 4th

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,415 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

Is Tony as good on the ground as people make out?
He's solid no doubt, with a string of sub wins. But people are always talking about his tricky 10thPlanet JiuJitsu. I can't remember him doing anything that I thought was particular unorthodox. I'd mostly associated a good D'arce choke with Tony, and the rest were RNC's I think.

This is a cook quiz. I missed 3 of them.
