I may be reading that wrong but I'd assume it's mma fighting getting creds back, not necessarily helwani.

Feel sad for poor old Kimbo.

I also loved the schaub story had me in stitches.

Bellator ended in a bit of a hullabaloo for him with dada and Ken sham. But he never came across as a knob. Only a guy making the best he could outta a weird set of circumstances.

    Rip

I saw a guy on a card a few months ago, Can't remember which one, but he was a black dude, probably around 185lbs, he did this crucifix with his hand before KOing his opponent with a head kick.. Anyone know who this is? Ive been looking out for him but can't figure it out. Can't wait to see him fight again, an animal!

Sounds like something out of the Michael Page playbook but don't remember it specifically.

A crucifix or did he bless himself?

Sounds like Michael Page, I think it's a fight from a few years ago. He's flashy, but he's also fought a lot of bums wheeled out for him to be flashy.

I think he's currently training in Tristar helping Rory prepared for Wonderboy. (They both have a similar kickboxing background)

Made the sign of a cross with his hand, probably blessing himself, then took your mans head off with a kick.. It was definitely only a few months ago, I watched it live.. I could be well off with the weight though, I think it might have been Derek Brunson but I can't find the knockout anywhere.. This fella mightn't have been a great fighter, but he was very impressive that night

Hilarious Kimbo interview on Jimmy Kimmel

  • Registered Users Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

I certainly wasn't a fan of Kimbo's last two fights but he came across so well in interviews and in that season of TUF.

That Schaub story is absolutely hilarious. Been a shítty 2016 with regards high profile deaths in and outside of MMA. Only 42 aswell.

Poor sod, says in that interview that he wanted to retire by "40 or 44 years old".

Died right in the middle of that guess.

Rogan's thoughts on Ariel and the UFC with Rogan detailing what he had been hearing from the UFC's side of things. He starts talking about it after 1 hour 26 minutes in:

I bet this is it! Contains a 185lb black guy, a crucifix and a head kick knockout.

    "Leg kick to the midsection"

No way he ever comes close to topping that one, absolutely no way.

For those who missed it and I pointed it out in the event thread, he messed up again when going over Bisping's KO. When they replayed it, Luke was rocked by Bisping, but what he actually said was "Rock luke'd by that left hook" or something along those lines.

Goldie is a legend, simple as that. :D

    Pettis down to featherweight!

Could really challenge down there, will be a tough cut for him though. Wonder will he get a top 5 fighter straight away? Would like to see him against Holloway or possibly Mendes. Mendes probably a bad matchup for him though.

Mendes looks done to me, didn't look right at all in the Frankie fight, not sure his head is in it anymore. Pure speculation of course, but I don't see Mendes being competitive in that division again. Surely he could make 135 though? Might be a good idea for him.

Here's a quote from him a couple of years ago:
"I'm pretty small for featherweight. I could definitely make '35 if I ever needed too, but in my mind why fix it if it's not broke ... I'm not too big for '45 so the weight cut has never been a big issue for me."

It does seem to be broke now though, three fight losing streak at 45 (obviously to three world class fighters) but I think a move down would do him a world of good and extend his career a bit.

As for Pettis, definitely want to see him fight Holloway and would love to see him fight Yair at some point as well.

definitely dont think chad is down and out, only has losses to frankie on a tear, the greatest featherweight of all time...and jose aldo :p just think he needs to settle down, take some time off and rebuild a bit, I'd like to see him against brian ortega maybe a few guys like that before he goes for a crack at the top again

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,480 ✭✭✭Devastator

I wouldn't say Chad is finished at this point but probably lean more towards, maybe he just wasn't that good afterall. Maybe he is only 4th/5th best in that division and Edgar,Aldo & mcGregor are the better fighters. Maybe his time will come, through circumstance or whatever like we seen with Bisping at the weekend. I thought(and I know Im not alone) he had become a gatekeeper to the division, that was was always lingering about but just not good enough for that final leap over the hurdle(or to get past the elite in the division). Honestly though, I know the whole full camp Chad talk that some like to use in his defence, but if Mendes fought any of Frankie, Jose or Conor again would we see a different outcome? I don't think so.

Pettis going down to FW should be interesting.

I wouldn't write off Chad just yet. I think he took the Frankie fight too soon after taking a bad KO from Conor, and when I watched it live I thought the Frankie fight was just stopped a little bit early (Haven't seen it on TV though).

Pettis looks a man derailed of confidence and found out to a degree. If you look at Gil fight that he won he was getting beat in that one too, pulled out the sub and won and has lost 3 since.

But, as you said, Him against Holloway or Yair would be fantastic. I think they'll give him an easier fight first. Maybe Lamas or Ortega.
