Elite controller arrived today, just in time for Gears 4 :-D

It's going to take a bit of getting used to but feels quality.

Is there an app to verify that the Elite works as it should?

Playing Forza, I have felt less and less vibration from the controller, and I wonder if it's broken or the game has stopped sending the right signals.

    Thanks.

I think you can buzz it in the Xbox accessories app on the Xbone, haven't tried but I am sure that I saw it at the weekend.

Do ye use the paddles much? I've had my elite for like 3-4 months but I don't use the paddles at all. When I put them in at the start it just felt a bit weird, not being able to rest my fingers where I normally would. I vowed to myself I'd give them a chance at some stage but still haven't got round to it. To be fair, in my head they'd be most useful for shooters and driving games and I haven't played much of either in a while.

Am I missing out on one of the controllers main selling points or are there otheres like me?!?

    Definitely missing out.

At first I thought I'd remove them due to miss hitting them however I stuck with them and built muscle memory and now I never hit them accidentally. They are incredibility useful and I curse when I go somewhere else and try to use a regular Xbox One controller without the paddles. They give you a great edge and are really convenient.

I have used mine for battlefield for added action keys on pc and changing weapons. I use them on driving games also. I used to mess about with euro truck simulator I could see them been big advantage there but majority of games there is no need for them.

I only use 2. I'd have to relearn how I hold the controller to use 4. I use index fingers on the triggers and to use 4 paddles I'd need index fingers on the bumpers and ring fingers on the triggers. Tried it for a bit and it requires a light grip otherwise I end up squeezing a paddle or pressing a button in error.

Pretty much what I did. The idea being I never have to take my thumbs off the left and right analog to press buttons for other functions. It gives you a great tactical advantage.

Quality is top class altogether , it oozes high end feel. Sound is very good too and although its stereo, its very well produced. Grahamer666 also has one and I think a few others here might comment.

You will love the XB Elite controller, I am delighted with mine.

As for the LS30's its akin to wearing an Elite controller on your head :D

Might see you on BF1 so! :)

Just picked up my Elite, oh it feels glorious!

Traded in BF1 for €40, now to sell my old controller and also got a €10 voucher from Argos - not too shabby

    Welcome to the club!

Bored of BF1 already? Was thinking of picking it up but i may just wait for the first price drop instead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,207 ✭✭✭maximoose

Oh no it's a special offer on in Argos for the Elite at the minute, buy the Elite and get BF1 for €7 - making a bit of a bargain for the controller!

    Ends tomorrow I think

BF1 is absolutely amazing. I wasn't really a fan of previous Battlefields, but I'm loving it.

Picked up the Argos deal with Battlefield 1. Sold Battlefield already as I have a copy, used a 10 euro voucher and had a spare controller that I picked up on the Groupon deal. All in all it cost me about 70 euro, couldn't say no to that

    What do we have here?

We have a year warranty. You need to speed to support and they will also register your box with it, make sure to specify that you bought the controller as a standalone version. I'm in the process of returning mine for a repair.

My controller keeps disconnecting when I press the right thumb stick. I got it in GameStop in July using my debit card and using the GameStop rewards card. Would I still be able to get a replacement receipt. Xbox support need it to verify the time I bought it. Or even better what are the chances of GameStop exchanging the faulty one

    Sorry to hear that.

I would imagine that GameStop may refer to MS support for the replacement, as GameStop's policy is to only take care of hardware replacements for the Elite Controller for up to 3 months after purchase. You may squeak in depending on date of purchase.

If they refer to you MS try doing the online chat support, i found it to be pretty straightforward as long as you have serial numbers etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,207 ✭✭✭maximoose

If you paid by Debit card you'll have proof of the transaction

Bring it back to gamestop, wouldn't be dealing with MS at all

But the retailer should replace, repair or refund for up to 24 months.

Tried that line and the normally nice staff were adamant this was their and MS's policy.

I'm terrible at confrontation though - could always try putting your foot down and making a stand for the consumer!

It doesn't matter if it's their policy or not. Sales of Goods Act is what applies and the product is expected to last and be useable for a reasonable time (generally 2 years is the time frame mentioned) and who you purchased with is the person you deal with.

I remember my leaving cert business class just fine Emmet :D

Not that it's an excuse, but i had my controller replaced within 9 days which was a pretty fast turnaround.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,966 ✭✭✭Liamalone

As said, go in and stand firm, check that they have a replacement in stock first so they can't say no because they're out of stock or some bs.

9 day turnaround? I sent a standard controller back to MS on three occasions, 21 days was the quickest turnaround I got.

Not controller related, but I've sent a Microsoft Band 2 off for repair twice and got it back within 5 days.

It's why I'm always perplexed at reports of poor MS service, I've always found them to be great and helpful. I've never had any experience with the web chat guys though, so maybe that's the difference.

Gamestop don't care about such frivolous things as consumer rights etc :pac:

To get the best out of it be sure to use the Xbox accessories app. It will allow you to customise the controller.

GameStop changed my controller for me in the end. Fairly helpful too. I don't think I'd purchase one again if it died for the price it is. Feels much better but I don't think I've used the paddles once. What do people use them for
