Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. 28k sterling for the m sport. A few at garages on autotrader for that price.
    se was around 25k sterling.
    2016 with 8 to 10k miles.
vrt is coming back at €3761 for a November 2016 msport.
it's 14 percent of over 44k euro with 2500 knocked off

    That's a beautiful colour.
You would have that car here for less than 35 k I'm guessing?
Looking on Carzone the 6 series is getting much cheaper especially if you stay away from BMW dealers but even their prices are softening.
It's eye watering depreciation from 110 k for a new one.

    Any news on 530e prices?

I see on my youtube feed that Joe Duffy have a nice 162 Estoril Blue 330e M Sport. Highest spec one I've seen on these shores too.

His asking price and VRT would be 35. The VRT is just over 8k. Flights etc on top of that. Worth it for a lower mileage one.

That's as high of spec car I've seen other than my own :)

Also has surround view cameras which I don't think he mentioned. Is there a price for it? Should be knocking about €11.5k of the list price plus some depreciation so would expect it to be quite low. I could be interested

Not sure if the EV grant, VRT rebate or BMW contribution apply to second hand cars. Keary's had/have a similar 330e M Sport and were looking more for it than a brand new one when you take the grants/rebate into account. I would not be surprised if JD was looking for well over 50k for that car.

Madness, I won't be buying her then so!!

Yep, I think buying a used 330e here only makes sense when they remove the grants and VRT rebates from the price of a new one. I priced a similar 16 reg one from the UK a few months back and it was still coming in at around 47k. They will have to get a lot cheaper in time before I'll show serious interest.

But the dealers are taking the piss with used prices. They are trying to pocket the rebate then sell the used car for near retail. Madness.
A 330e with retail price of 54k costs a buyer 42.5k when rebates and contribution are included.
A pre reg 17 plate should cost less than this. A 16 plate should be a few thousand less.

Sold me an 80k car with no oil in it, kerbed a 19" wheel when the car was getting serviced - they then repaired it badly (I asked for and should've demanded a new wheel but I was a younger man!) and they take the piss on prices both on new cars and trade in prices. Gave them benefit of doubt a few weeks ago, same old story.

was there not a case of you buying a largely repainted M3 without being told also? Or was that a different bmw main dealer?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,576 ✭✭✭carsfan2

That's pretty shocking Markn so I'm not surprised you don't think much of them although I feel all Bmw dealers are undervaluing trade ins and over pricing stock at the moment.

Re used values of the 330e, surely the private retail price i.e. Price less vrt grant and rebate is the starting point for drop off not the pre grant price.
Anything else is taking the piss.

That was Maxwell Motors. After they lost the BMW franchise. Just goes to show, even with a dealer, buyer beware!

    Sounds awful.

It was a demo model. I bought it with 3,000kms, wasn't a mark on it. Drove it for a year and half, sold it to a garage who in turn sold it to a customer in good faith. Money in my account for the car (we're talking big money, it was only 2 years old at this stage). Garage that sold it rings me out of the blue, "was the car crashed at all"? Eh, not to my knowledge. New owner had engineers report done on the car, paint was different depths all over the car. I got BMW Ireland involved and they sent out a crash repair engineer who surveyed the car etc all FOC and he prepared a report. Turned out someone had hit the car off a pillar and the damage was repaired, sprayed and some other panels blended. So Maxwells said anyway. I hit the roof, sent them a legal letter and said I'd sue them if they didn't pay me what was owed on the car so they did and then they sold it on. I still see it around and it's a lovely car, well looked after but it was very embarrassing for me as I knew the owner of the garage who sold it on my behalf originally. I was also out of pocket for an engineers report to the tune of about €600.

Annnnnnyway back on topic about those 330e's (apologies mods) :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,660 ✭✭✭Voodoomelon

What do you mean what was owed on the car, just the engineers report? Some carry on altogether from the dealer!

Apologies if I missed anything MarkN but how were you involved in this?

Did you not say you sold it to the dealership, got paid and then they sold it on after damaging it?

    Sorry for off topic again!

No. I sold it via an independent specialist dealer (after I owned the car for a year and half). That dealer then sold it on my behalf as I wasn't dealing with a private sale on a car like that. A few days into ownership for that new owner the specialist sold it to, **** hit the fan. Some in my position may have told that dealer tough, it's your problem now but I just wouldn't sting someone like that, especially someone I know.

Any 330e owners care to update how they are finding living with a PHEV after a few months?

What kind of driving are you doing and what's it costing to fuel petrol wise?

Not that's the be all and end all of driving but it's the USP of this particular car.

I have my car about six months and have 12.5 k km up in it.
Trip computer says 50.8 long term mpg.
I plug in when I'm at home so start each day with a full battery.I drive in comfort or sport mode never use eco.
My mpg has dropped over the last few months since I first got the car due to my making more use of the performance, more long trips and the drop in temperature over the winter.long term was over 60mpg before.
My electric bill has risen only a few quid in the same period.
The car is faster, quieter and smoother than the golf gti it replaced.the golf averaged about 34mpg and a BMW 330d I had before which would have had comparable performance did 42mpg.

I love the quiet and smoothness of the power train and the car can be deceptively quick.
Tyre noise can be noticeable as I have m sport plus so 19" wheels but generally ok.
Car has been problem free. An intermittent buzz in the drivers door was a loose screw in the ambient light strip attachment sorted by the dealer.
I bought car as a reasonable performance car with low running costs.
170 euro tax and cheap to fuel so that's grand. No increase in insurance from my last car( haven't renewed this year so no doubt will rise) so that's grand too.
The car itself was 51k even after grants so not a cheap way to save a few bob on fuel!

Any other posters got any reflections on the ownership experience?

Slightly off topic but still BMW related, has anyone replaced their RTF tyres lately? My rears are now at the minimum level limit so I'm shopping around. I'm going with GY Eagle F1 AS3 this time and this is the cheapest price I seem to be able to find them at online is €450:

    http://www.oponeo.ie/details-tyre/goodyear-eagle-f1-asymmetric-3-275-35-r19-100-y-run-on-flat-xl-fp---moe#130516118

Will cost me about €40 to have them fitted locally but I was in a main dealer this morning and got prices off them just out of curiosity. They will fit a pair of Bridgstones for around €750. Local brick and mortar places would have to order them in and they cannot come anywhere near the online prices. I'm thinking I'm not going to do better than that but just wanted to put it out there.

Thanks for that. The 330e idea won't go away from my mind even though I'm well served by an e39 which I love, I have been in late models e39 for over a decade now, with one short break to another type of car which was stupid of me.

I nearly bought 330e msport last June but didn't in the end, was going self employed and just pulled out.

50.8 mpg is approx double what I get, I average just below 30. Along with tax saving, extra potential on repairs for mine of 1000 a year (assuming yours has a service pack) and assuming insurance would be the same, the 330e would be 3k cheaper to run and maintain a year than a pre 08 petrol. And you have an extra 50bhp when both motors run in unison.

Just can't stomach the initial 3 year depreciation but I really really want one and have posted in this thread a lot. Disappointed the dealers upped the APR on them for new buyers too. When these start coming onto second hand market in 2019 I think it will be time to finally move on from e39.

Yeah I was thinking 750 wasn't bad at first until they said it was for 2 only. I might try a few more local places first before I order online, I'd rather keep my money local if there is not a whole lot of difference in price but not when there is hundreds in the difference.

I got 2 rear Bridgestones fitted for €560 in Atlas in Blanchardstown. Joe Duffy were looking for €630 and couldn't understand why I wouldn't pay there. I had a puncture and had already drove 100km on them so couldn't really shop around any more as needed to get it fixed.

Got a puncture in the front and it cost €240 from what I remember . €800 for 3 tyres is sore enough though. Get some weird faces when someone asks you how much they are!!

Having been unlucky enough to have gotten 2 punctures within a few days I was more than glad I had my RFTs. Also just been able to keep on driving on the RFTs for 200km was great late on a rainy night when I got the 2nd one.

Other than the extra cost is their any other big disadvantages? I know people say the ride is not as good but can't complain with mine although I do have adaptive suspension so that may help.
