    RUA SOUND
Rua Sound is a new electronic music label focused on the rhythms joining the worlds of Jungle, Hip-Hop, Footwork, Drum & Bass and Grime. The Rua Sound project is an outlet to investigate and push areas of bass heavy, high velocity electronic music, all the while taking aim squarely at the dancefloor.
The label’s roots lie in Galway, Ireland and it is operated by long term bass dealers Welfare & Rob DC.
Rua Sound’s opening shot fires on 22nd Jan, with a much awaited 12’’ from legendary producer, Sully, fresh from his massive release on Fracture’s Astrophonica label. “Lifted” and “Rotten” illustrate his grasp of old school junglist sensibilities and his ability to make any sound his own through signature melodics and percussive intricacies. The Sully double is backed on the remix tip with an eyes down dancefloor pounder, courtesy of the in-form Sam Binga.
The release has been stretching sound systems worldwide with support from the likes of Om Unit, Fixate, Moresounds, DJ Madd and Danny Scrilla as well as attracting serious heat on BBC Radio 1's Toddla T show.

    Heavyweight ammunition all round.

    SULLY
Sully aka Jack Stevens is an understated folk hero, a low key elusive bass producer with a fiercely passionate fanbase.
Long before the UK garage revival kicked in and “future” garage had even been dreamt up, Sully began finding a space between 2step’s swing, dubstep’s edge and breakstep’s drums, all underpinned by the rude spirit of jungle. He displayed a deft touch for heart-breaking melodies that could touch people as much as the ruff sub bass could hit them, on EPs like ‘Phonebox’ and ‘Jackman’s Rec.’
In 2013 this junglistic spirit came further to the fore with an extensive jungle release on London’s Keysound Recordings which saw Sully take a nostalgic approach to the classic sound whilst stamping it with his unmistakable grasp of melody and texture. A release on Fracture's Astrophonica imprint last year solidified further his notoriety for a clean, crisp, melodic and vibrant Jungle sound and his work on the debut Rua Sound release is no different.
Still bowing at the altar of mid-‘90s jungle, this time out he nods to the lush melodic arrangements and coiled drums of Omni Trio or Steve Gurley with the dextrous flex of Lifted, before Rotten steps forward with diced up think breaks and deep-set atmospheres giving Source Direct or Dillinja a run for their P’s. Sam Binga steps in on remix duties with an eyes down bass banging halfstep version of Rotten that must be felt to be believed!
