The area has 6000+ people. It has the same population as somewhere like Ballinasloe or Fermoy. I agree, before I moved to RCP I lived in Rathbourne Village near Ashtown train station for years. I did hear the odd story about bike thefts etc but I never noticed significant anti social behavior in all my time in the area. If you focus on the Facebook page you would think it was a lot worse that it really is.

Guys. Might be worth considering taking this conversation (i.e anti social behaviour and more precisely fear of it developing above and beyond what would be considered normal) off line or to another private online forum. Lets remember this forum is open to the public and will be available for consumption long after we have settled in to our new homes. One day we may want to sell up and move on so lets not shoot ourselves in the foot so to speak! Cheers

Aside from modernisation of RCP-Broombridge canal walk, did anyone contact our management company about increasing the security at this end of the development?

It may be worth letting them know about the recent events, at least not to let spreading vadalism (or even the fire) into the development.

Back in December 2016, they were also going to put additional cameras and the second security office where the new houses are built. I'd like to know the update on this too.

The more facts they have the better, they communicate with the local groups and can send additional patrols if needed. To avoid retaliation, it's best to give an anonymous report without disclosing your personal data, in particular your name and area of living.

Hi All

Just to add to what Hollypink mentioned about the RCPCA . They meet once a month and always welcome new members. I only managed to go to one meeting myself but intend to get more involved. They they seem to be a well organised group and discuss all the matters people have brought up above. They meet in the community center close to the Romayos Im not sure of the day or time, but I guess the facebook page will help with that
Also I just wanted to add, in my opinion RCP is not an area which experiences high levels of anti-social behavior. I agree the area close to Broombridge certainly is a tip and attracts undesirables and bored teenagers with nothing to do during the summer, but adding in a train station to RCP I believe wont help solve that issue

I have lived in an apartment in RCP for 5+ years and now in the new development for the past year. Anti social behavior is not common in my view.

I think its just a group of bored kids of a certain immature age with nothing better to do in the summer holidays.

We need everyone's help here who have moved into the area or intends to, The Department of Education wants to get rid of the local Educate Together school and put it in with the Cabra one. For me personally this is not acceptable for a number of reasons.

I am attaching two documents one is a letter that can be sent to politicians and the other is a list of politicians that it can be sent to,

If your child is not in the educate together school but you have enrolled them for the future then modify the letter accordingly.

I appreciate your help as it will take people power to stop this happening.

Get rid of the school? I thought this was a temporary measure for first class pupils until the prefabs were in place. The last update I got since this campaign bagan was that the prefabs would now be in by October. I never got the impression that it was a permanent solution?

I don't I'm afraid. Only the DOE know and they are not forthcoming with this infomation due to commercial sensitivites. The school haven't been informed either.

Can anyone provide any information on how the pump works and who, if anyone , we should contact to maintain it. It's weird that when we turned off the pump both hot and cold pretty much stopped.

They is the department of education.

The prefabs are going on the existing site which is beside supervalu, ie where the school is now.

The site proposed in the local area plan is at the back of the vacant lot between rathborne and royal canal park.

"The mains feed serves the kitchen cold tap and supplies the water tanks in the attic. No others. The pump pulls water from the tanks in attic and uses this to pressurise the water feed to all other taps hot and cold, and showers plus toilet water supply, utility room supply etc."

So it's not unusual that turning off the pump would have that effect.
I would be interested in what you find it is the problem.

We were able to put a super king size bed in the master bedroom. The bed frame was easy to put up as it was in a flatpack. The mattress was a real struggle. It took us around 20 minutes to put it upstairs as they don't bend and the space is limited. I would recommend you to get the super king mattresses that are two 3' zipped together.

this evening, the water pressure has dropped in my house too...and the the tank in the attic is not filling fast enough to supply all the showers, toilets, wash machine etc. Anybody else experiencing drop in water pressure tonight?

I was able to get a super king mattress into the master bedroom also in heron type house. 2 strong delivery guys from a company specialising in mattresses had it up in 10 minutes!

Tonight? The mains stopped working last night for me and when I inquired this morning, I was told there had been damage to a pipe up at the building site. It had been repaired by the time I looked into it, and a couple of hours later, the pressure was back up to its usual level in the cold tap.
I'm in an apartment, by the way, not one of the new houses.

yes, i had the problem last night. This morning, the pressure is still low at the mains tap in the kitchen. And the pump is running non-stop trying to fill the tanks in the attic. Did you contact Irish Water or Ballymore?

The pump doesn't fill the attic tank. Unless you're setup is entirely different to mine.

Sorry for the delay in replying: I asked in the Mgmt suite and they told me it was due to building work. I even specified, 'So I can't blame this on Irish Water?'

The latest snagging date we were given was the end of September, if I handed my notice in to our landlord today that would bring us to mid November, does that seem like a reasonable cushion?

For snagging, Ballymore were quick and did it well for us. Keep in mind, if you miss small things in snagging and notice it later, they will come and sort stuff out too. I wouldnt imagine much of a delay here as long as you get the snagging list to them.

For mortgage and contract, who knows... 6 weeks sounds like enough to me.

Broadband Update - Eir is now available on the strete, but only standard broadband, no fibre, which means they dont offer TV.
So, besides getting a satellite dish, there is no TV in the area which is a bit ridiculous.

They only installed the cables in the street about a week ago, and i know its going to a fiber exchange so why wouldn't they put in fiber?

It's grand for our purposes. The kids watch a lot of You Tube via the TV and we have a WIFI music system also and we rarely if ever have any issues. Vodafone's TV packages aren't the best but we went with them as it was the best available without going down the route of an external dish etc.

Thinking of buying an apartment in Ashtown, Royal Canal Park, main concern is regarding internet. My partner needs high speed internet if he works from home. We're currently using Broadband in Dublin 11 which is okay. Is Vodafone the only internet provider there (not interested in TV packages)? Does anyone else rely on internet for work purposes?

People are mentioning Vodafone because they have the best deal at the moment but the network is that of openEir which is a fibre based broadband network. So there are other sellers but they are all resellers in a way. Vodafone included.

You're looking at about 80mbit consistently with occasional drops.

OK, so what happens was grit in the cold water tank got into the system when the tank drained. This blocked a valve in the hotpress tank, which inturn caused reduced capacity throughout the system. I was being quoted a fortune for a new pump and plumbers wouldn't touch it as it was a "pressurized" system. I got onto Ballymore, they sent around a guy who sorted it out in 15 minutes. Which was great.

Considered going whoever drew that map (still!) can't get the red and green Luas lines correct And that it makes no sense for something on the south side of the canal to be "royal canal park", I'd be fairly sure this is the strip of land ballymore own between RCP and rathborne. Basically a block mirroring phalanx avenue and phelan drive west. You can see the planning permission on dcc' planning portal.

I rang them a month ago and they had no cable in the street.
2 weeks ago they rang and said the cable had been installed.
They came and joined the cables in the street to my house, and then ran a speed test.

Its comming up around 17megabits most of the time, but one evening it was 8 megabits, so they wont offer tv over it.
