Thanks.... I'm surprised that KWI isn't considered up to standard when compared to some of the local airports in that area.

What does that mean in amateur-speak? Does the plane not meet the requirements to ever fly above FL270? Or did they just stay below it for this flight to play around with their new toy?

There are numerous requirements necessary to fly in RVSM Airspace.

Not familiar with the aircraft in question but it may well be that it does not have the required equipment or it may be temporarily incapable due to a fault with an FMS/Autopilot for example.

Isnt that the T9 airway or similar so it needs MNPS equipment, this would involve two long range navigation systems and HF radio plus training.
Its unlikely that a domestic aircraft would have the HF and if its  delivery flight its also unlikely that they had the operational approval from the FAA.

They've three IIRC. Manx registered, and used to run about mechanics and spares as required.

Winds were so close to needing 34 last night but noooo, the one day I'm flying and have a seat on the left hand side of the plane they stick to a crosswind approach on 10.

    Selfish is all that is!!!

BA1 SNN-JFK currently doing circuits an hour off the west coast, looks like it will return to SNN.

Edit: BZ got there before me!

He is on a recognized flightpath.

I think he is holding for Shanwick clearance. He is less than 20km form the Shanwick FIR border.

I've never seen holding of over 15mins waiting for Shanwick clearance.

Still holding. The A318 has not got the capability to dump fuel so more than likely burning off a few tonne before returning to SNN.

Jetstream coming from the east today, can't imagine they'd be continuing if the jet was from the west as it usually is. Stroke of luck there.

If you look at Fred's screenshot it shows 113kts from the South West

Last night a 738 Max (BOE104) took off from Boeing's test field on Seattle. Flew for over nine hours, pretty impressive for a 737. Look at the flight pattern though!

I think that story 'The Sun' refers to an incident on Friday Feb 10th. That was G-EUNA.
It looks as though G-EUNB was brought out of storage yesterday and has developed the exact same problem as occurred to G-EUNA on Friday. Oh dear!
