    Flew out of DUB last Sunday Monday early.Flights were taking off from 34 & 28 alternatively. Is that normal operations?

    You'd often see dual takeoffs early in the morning on 28/34 when there's a good few to take off. Usually Stobarts/small jets on 34 from what I've seen

    Irish coast guard helicopter over South Wales now on way back from Heathrow. Why would it going to Heathrow? Patient transfer to U.K hospital?

    "Search & Rescue does not sleep or stop. RESCUE117 carried out an urgent middle of the night transfer to the UK, departing Waterford Airport & landing at Dublin Airport to collect patient & then onto Londons Heathrow & then safely back home to Waterford Airport."

    BTW, why fly to Heathrow and not directly to somewhere nearer the hospital, even like an RAF base? I'm sure there are sound reasons, but what are they? Refuelling facilities maybe? Or is the hospital right by LHR?

    Harefield hospital (lung & heart transplant unit) is only about 30 mins drive from LHR. Although they do have a helipad on site so not sure why they didn't just land there.

    So, I wasn't hearing things in Clondalkin before dawn. I was woken by what sounded like an S-92, but I didn't know if I was imagining things or not.

    Few possible reasons:

    Many hospital helipads are only certified for daylight use.

    Also likely that the helipad couldn't handle an S92, most UK air ambulance helicopters are EC135 or similar, with a few Dauphins around also.

    Some helipads may require specific training for crews before they can be used.

    Thats a great service provided, hopefully all went well for the patient. Maybe there could be noise restriction around the hospital for this type of helicopter at that time of night?

    Painfully slow movement of traffic at Dublin now. Pretty much every flight taking off/landing late. It's very busy and the easterly runway doesn't seem to help, hope this isn't a taste of the summer to come

    Why did it look like the aircraft landed outside the runway? Has it crashed?
    An aircraft’s ADS-B transponder is transmitting the position from the on board flight computer, which in most modern aircraft comes from GPS data and is very accurate. On some older aircraft (for example some older A300, B737, B757, B767 and RJ100) the position is calibrated on ground before take off and after that the current position is calculated based on speed and direction of the aircraft. When flying for some time, in wind or in circles, the calculation becomes increasingly worse, which at landing can give position calculations that are up to 10 km incorrect.
