Aviation can be an uncertain game sometimes, and delays happen, hope you get going soon though, safe flight

Looks like 2 go rounds in a row (aer lingus from chicago and a delta).

    Seems like perfect weather?

Chicago was a late go around, whereas the New York behind it was an early go around, which suggests to me it was some sort of runway incursion and they went around at a fairly similar time.

Runway was being inspected and cleared of a carcass

    DAL213 ATH-JFK descending into SNN

Only noticed cos the noise over the house didn't sound like the usual Ryanair takeoffs from KIR

Just an FYI re any SAR posts. There is now a dedicated Irish SAR operations thread to post info on any ongoing 'R11x' callsign tasking.
Doesnt stop you posting here of course

This evenings STN-NOC landed at Knock at 1704(EI-DWZ), the aircraft then went tech, new estimate of 2330 now for departure....

NOC staying open that late must be some kind of a record

See a replacement plane just about to land at Knock, 11.30pm. Some delay for the passengers

Would be as handy compared to having to open NOC early tomorrow to get the frame back to STN

Are you familiar with the airside departures area in Knock?

    EI-DWZ just departed as RYR9.

Anybody know what the issue was. Would the replacement Ryanair have brought a spare part and engineers because it wasn't that long after the first plane departed that the second one departed and done the journey at 41000ft.

Could be something as simple as the emergency exit signs not working which would be a "no go" item but safe to ferry the aircraft back.

It could be as simple as a tech log entry which required an engineers sign off.

Once an entry is made in the Tech log the aircrafts C of A becomes invalid and it cannot be dispatched. The MEL may give some leeway to this but only if an O (operator) action or a M-CD (Maint- Crew Dispatchable) issue has occurred. If however an M (Maint) action is required then only a licenced engineer may sign the aircraft off as airworthy once the maint action has been completed.

Looks like it's just avoiding the Tripoli FIR actually, but not sure what FIR that is.

    This post has been deleted.

That appears to be west of the western boundary of the "in between bit", with the Tripoli FIR east of the eastern boundary. What's in between? Or is one of the boundaries a lower and the other an Upper Information Region?

Edit: Libya AIP appears to show it all as Tripoli FIR, though it's a bit out of date.

The no-fly zone applies to certain military aircraft, there are still commercial flights operating in and out of Libya. Some European countries don't allow access to/from Libyan airspace through their airspace, and Libyan CAA has banned international flights except with permission:
A0010/17 - INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS TO/FROM ALL LIBYAN AERODROMES AND OVERFLYING
HLLL FIR ARE FORBIDDEN EXCEPT BY PRIOR PERMISSION FROM LIBYAN CAA
