I'd say way to young to be retiring

    What's the cause?

    Ah visibility.

No CAT III. Seems to be reoccurring at DUB, is there some reason it takes longer in DUB to go to CAT III?

Looks like 5 off to Shannon, 2 to Belfast and 1 to LPL/MAN.

    Diversions so far:

    EI249 (EIN24K) LGW-DUB diverting to SNN
    FR7225 (RYR9JR) ACE-DUB diverting to SNN
    FR1977 (RYR49WY) RIX-DUB diverting to SNN
    FR1959 (RYR7CZ) NCE-DUB diverting to SNN
    FR1902 (RYR8ND) KRK-DUB diverting to SNN
    EI339 (EIN33L) TXL-DUB diverting to BFS
    EI779 (EIN7RE) ACE-DUB diverting to BFS
    FR3007 (RYR37PD) AMS-DUB diverting to MAN/LPL.
    FR9435 (RYR773B) CIA-DUB diverting to MAN/LPL

CAT III available, however ATC told aircraft they must make a CAT I, until a go-around just there, now CAT III.

No CAT II or III available during the duration of the runway overlay in DUB.

That's incorrect, as they all have CAT III approaches now.

May be that 28 is closing shortly, and 16 won't be able to cope with the extras. Visibility is causing some serious issues for some reason. Add a couple of missed approaches to that list, FR 9435 and FR7047 have both gone around

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

As far as I know, they can't undertake work during LVP's, and it's limited in RVO's

But it's a reoccurring theme in DUB that CAT III takes a good 15-20 minutes to come into force.

    FR7359 (RYR73W) BRI-DUB diverting to SNN.

They're using RWY28, not RWY10, and are currently making CAT III approaches.

FR7359 has just aborted approach very early in the descent, not got radio on, wondering if FR7047 declared fuel emergency, it's come back on to approach very quickly after the missed approach.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

Apologies too late at night read that NOTAM arseways.

Haven't heard any fuel emergency declared, although I'd agree looks rather peculiar.

As far as I know they're making CAT III approaches, as ATC said they were now available, however I'm unsure as to why FR7359 went around, they seemed to go around shortly after the cloudbase dropped to 100ft.

Update : Confirmed CAT III approaches, aircraft joining queue now given approach times of 40 minutes past the hour.

An unexpected visit to lovely Belfast aboard EI339.

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators Posts: 6,522 Mod ✭✭✭✭Irish Steve

7359 broke off before even starting descent with the glideslope, it was still about 6 or more miles out, broke off with a strong left turn, which is what makes me think they needed to get the other flight on the ground urgently.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

Just going to bed and checked the feeds, thought the system was broken when I seen the listener numbers!

Some Ryanair aircraft asking ops to check to see if Shannon are available for diversions as they cannot make a CAT III approach.

Update: FR271 (RYR88FN) STN-DUB diverting to Shannon now, and to clarify they asked ATC.

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators Posts: 6,522 Mod ✭✭✭✭Irish Steve

The non availability of CAT 3 capability will be down to either an aircraft technical issue, or crew recency or training requirements, and realistically, CAT 3 this time of the year would be unusual, it could however mean that the aircraft won't be able to get back to Dublin tonight, depending on how long this weather takes to clear.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

Why cannot they make a CAT III approach?

They are making CAT III approaches, however it was a significant period of time until they could.

Are you referring to FR271? Likely due to crew or aircraft issues, nothing to do with DUB.
