A medical divertion? Didn't have time to check it out further. If medical, seems to be getting ever more frequent...1-2 a week now?

VS90 UVF-LGW. On its way again now. Not sure of reason.

It's not that they're getting more common, they just seem to come in waves. Fairly random.

Why is Belfast to SWF going so far north? Surely the 737 MAX will not have range issues?

Is the aircraft not ETOPS certified yet?

I believe the capacity is 189 passengers so i'm not sure if that will affect a 3,100 mile 737-800 MAX flight?

Note: Boeing 738 BFS to PVD took a direct route across.

I suspect ETOPS too, as the other MAX in service today is operating EDI-BDL on a similar northerly route. Both look to be staying with 60mins ETOPS areas.

MAX isn't ETOPs approved yet. Those two were the 1st two operational flights by a MAX.

As expected! I was getting worried that there would be range issues!

Ahh makes sense, I though it was strange when FR showed an empty runway.

Just did a quick loop at 3000ft, could have been waiting for the runway to clear or something like that, no go around.

    Landed now.

    WX119 LCY-DUB and EI163 LHR-DUB gone around.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,776 ✭✭✭This Fat Girl Runs

I'm on EI163. We were about to land then suddenly pulled up again. I've never had that happen before! Captain said it was due to litter on the runway so Control ordered the go around.

Edit to say we've landed safely and just waiting to get off the plane.

Seems to be pretty busy at the moment - approx 7 in holds, 5 on approaches and 10 on the taxiway awaiting departure! Is it just summer busyness?

Yup, infact they can often be worse on RWY10 ops!
