ETH had a problem with the nose-wheel steering, hydraulic related. Needed a tug and 28 went OOA for a while.

Heard it go overhead and I’m south of airport very close hence thought it weird as they don’t come this way.
Amazed someone posted a minute before.

According to FT it got to 340 feet before aborting.

At a guess I would say it was slow departing traffic ahead. There was a pronounced left turn with the GA ! :D

Holding at KERAV now at 5000ft.

    Confirmed technical issue by ATC.

Switching ops to RWY16, EI109 DUB-JFK will be soon landing on RWY28 with an undercarriage problem and will block the runway for a time.

Update: Landing gear failed to retract, also I see EI-FNG operating DUB-EWR EI101 diverted to KEF.

Literally just read the post above you!

Appears Hydraulic fluid is leaking, apparently causing smoke as it meets the hot breaks from the overweight landing (If I heard correctly).

    Folks

I may have had a part to play in the JFK flight returning.

I was walking home through Blanchardstown Village, and had to shelter from the rain. Sat down on a low wall under a tree. Noticed EI109 heading outbound over Ballycoolin Ind estate. Noticed the front wheel still engaged, whilst the main gear was up and tucked away.

So I rang ATC and told them. They said they'd check it out. I wasnt sure if I was causing unnecessary alarm.

Glad I did now. I see they landed ok too, thank God.

Sometimes its a good thing to be a planespotter :)

If they didn't already have an alert for that I'd be amazed - but nothing wrong with vigilence

Wheels up should be audible (whirrs, thuds and snaps).

    No harm to call nevertheless.

EI 413 Verona to Dublin is gone to Shannon

  • Registered Users Posts: 282 ✭✭rebel456

Aer Lingus EI413 Verona - Dublin appears to be diverting to Shannon, did one lap of a holding pattern before deviating.

Re the diversion to Keflavik, a tweet from someone possibly on board says it was a medical diversion and nurse / doctor on board + cabin crew saved someone's life.

Maybe they shouldn't have been so eager to switch the runway back?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,175 ✭✭✭PukkaStukka

Ops switched back to 28 but significant holding and delays
