Looks to be on a base leg for Cardiff

Rare to see an approach beginning at 2,000ft (is this procedure for CWL or just circumstance), very swift decent too. Could be a tech issue?

Considering cork wasn't all that far away makes me think it's something urgent. Or would weather at cork be an issue if they had a minor tech problem?

They descended quite dramatically. It could possibly be a medical emergency.

Flightradar24 gives the impression it stopped on the runway but of course can't be trusted

Looking at the flight path it’s nearly as long as going to Cork

Seems the plane is stationary on the runway.

AN124 landed at Shannon a short while ago from Ljubljana.

Fire and rescue services are attending the aircraft

Apparently it was smoke in the flight deck

EI-DEG seems to be positioning under the call sign EIN990, possibly rescue aircraft for the AMS-ORK diversion ?

Spot on Locker onwards to Cork callsign 84X.

EI are to be commended for the response.

Just saw a Ryanair make a go around there at EIDW- not what you want to see before taking a flight!

    Why, that's fairly routine

If anyone has playback can you have a look at FR298 tonight please - I'm on board but I think we lined up on the wrong runway initially and had to do a U turn!

It looks like you went onto RWY16 and turned around a few hundred feet up it and came back to line up for 28, however I doubt it was an accident?

Listen to Live ATC archives when you get a chance!

An Antonov AN-124 just flew over my house in Clondalkin heading eastbound. It's probably the first time that I have heard one in this neck of the woods. The distinctive hum raised my suspicions, which proved correct :)

Another day with BKN002 at DUB, another day with complaints about not going CAT III.

Pilot was venting his frustrations on frequency there. Didn't catch the full story but it seems someone higher up is adamant about keeping CAT I until it goes BKN001.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,774 ✭✭✭Bsal

Where they on RWY28 or 10 at the time? Notams saying CATII/III not available on RWY28 only 10 while work in progress.

EI990, EI992 and EI994 all about to depart Cork.

Looks like Aer Lingus aren't taking any chances

Max gust there now upgraded to 75kts so looks severe. Moving out aircraft though is unprecedented!

They'd want to move them soon anyway, gusting 38kts from the east on a large crosswind component.

Star Air also seem to be moving their 767 out of Shannon as S67801.

Plenty of Monarch and Air Berlin planes in Shannon also, seem to be staying put
