There is a fire at a recycling plant in St. Margarets, just to the west of Dublin airport. It doesn't seem to be affecting operations (28 in use) although departing a/c are being advised of this at the moment by ATC.

    FR1742 EMA-NOC diverting to Shannon.

It is so close to 28 that, that's surprising, but I guess wind conditions, if there is any, must be favourable.

There are some pics on twitter - there is a lot of smoke but it appears to be blowing away from the field. Pretty serious fire by the looks of it (8 units from Dublin Fire Brigade in attendance).

Whatever about smoke, watch out for the birds...

See a few FlyBe's starting to divert from BHD toward DUB, and others circling over Belfast Harbour.
Must be fog causing havoc up there as well.

Knock, Derry and both Belfast airports have dense fog.

A strange one. FR3103 AMS-DUB missed approach 28 DUB (even though 10 seems to be in use). Came back in for approach to 10 but turned away and diverted to Shannon!

LVP at Dublin. Rwy 10 in use now.

BE6255, BE385 and TK1977 all diverted to Shannon.

And now Flybe from Cardiff holding over the Irish sea.

That Jet2 757 was on either a training or post maintenance flight.

FARO / DUB Ryanair now diverted as well.

Nope seems to be landing, just a very long hold pattern.

Will someone go and push the fog away to give us a break in snn? A big leaf blower or something

TO3608 (TVF30VB) ORY (Paris) - DUB diverting to Shannon, will shortly be turning for approach RWY06.

One aircraft being told 40mins wait for push and start.

God Dublin really does fall apart when LVPs are brought in.

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,183 ✭✭✭✭JCX BXC

Most large airports do! Heathrow turns to cancellation heaven and Gatwick isn't much better!

LVP's lifted and things should improve.

And fog is back, KL939 (KLM25Q) AMS-DUB gone around, 10pm METAR gives cloud base at 100ft.

Didn't cop it but EI177 (EIN1YG) LHR-DUB also went around before it.

CAT III Approachs back, on RWY28 this time.

Several diversions from Cork this morning, some to Shannon, Some Dublin and some Kerry.

    FR6673 (RYR25GL) LPL-NOC just landed in Shannon,

A dense fog has descended on DUB, all rvr's between 200-225m. LVP's in place. However, CAT II approaches only due to a technical issue. No CATIII for at least an hour. I foresee many many diversions

    FR5733 GLA-DUB heading to Liverpool.

RVR at Touchdown now up to 350m, aircraft making approaches again.

  • Registered Users Posts: 705 ✭✭✭BZ

A350-900 test aircraft in the circuit in SNN at the moment doing touch and go’s and missed approaches.

Anyone notice exactly what happened 10mins ago with Air Arabia 174. ATC cleared him for take off then few secs later told him to abort...Only had scanner on in backround and that caught my attention.I think a FR may have been involved too but not sure. But atc did apoligise to a FR pilot...

Edit:Just noticed FR7033 went around so most likely it was on approach..

  • Registered Users Posts: 100 ✭✭tb66

Just heard FR7033 on second approach. Pilot emphasizing final approach speed!! ATC apologizing again saying things got too tight and that's why he was told to go around.

Ended up fairly close to the sea! There's pictures after the report in that link.

Weather looks like it wasn't the best, while no real wind, it was wet with poor vis and lowish cloud.
