The SAS flight from Oslo was holding over Drogheda, it's now passing Edinburgh at 39,000 so must be heading back to Oslo. That's got to be a head wrecker, getting that close.

In fairness even Stockholm has struggled the last day or so. They’ve had a few cancellations as ever for there the weather got a bit extreme.
Scandi airports generally deal very well in snow, because they have to, snow is guaranteed every single winter. They have under-ground heating on their aircraft stands !! Can you just imagine the stink o’leary and the likes would kick up if the DAA installed such facilities, there’d be war over the “unnecessary costs” etc..

Why the focus on the transatlantic flights by EI?

Surely if an A330 can takeoff, then an A320 can too? Other than the destination having snow issues, then surely the fact that some flights are "transatlantic" seems to be an odd parameter for putting it as a priority?

And how significant of a factor is passengers not being able to turn up in terms of cancellations, or were all cancellations related to airport conditions?

Massive delays on the ground is the idea behind that. If you can get 8 A330's out where pax have paid a few hundred euros and are hard to reroute, vs 8 A320's, of people who can easily be routed and chances are aren't paying much, the choice is obvious.

Also got freight you need to move. Getting the A330's off the ramp makes room. You couldn't restart tomorrow morning with 10 A330's on the ramp.

It is very frustrating that we are not seeing the evening wave of flights off to MUC, DUS, MAD, AMS etc.

EI243 is lining up in LGW to come home, EI402 from FCO is circling the Dublin mountains, EI136 making its second attempt to get from SNN to DUB

Even rarer yet, as ET500 is en-route from Addis Ababa.....

But earlier tonight at 20.30, there was only 3 aircraft inbound to DUB, all coming in after the runway reopened. That was rare for that time of night.

Wasn't on the radar when I looked! Patchy coverage over that part of Africa I'd guess.
