Apparently a failure at Eurocontrol mean there will be a 10% reduction in capacity today, is expect a lot of slot delays over Europe for the rest of the day

Friend of mine got caught up in it, Lufthansa from Munich off to Shannon after about 10 minutes in the hold. 4 hours waiting on the ground in the plane before being flown back to Dublin.

What's up with this? It has done a loop of Dublin, is moving away, yet it still gives its estimated arrival into Dublin?

Landed and was on the ground for over an hour but the transponder was never turned off. Given that it uses the same callsign on both the SNN-DUB and DUB-CGN sectors it's just a FR24 error.

I was thinking of the freighters only.

Why would the Aer Lingus SFO to DUB flight take this route instead of the usual one?

    What's "the usual one"?

Usual one (to my eye at least) was up through Saskatchewan in Canada and on over passing Greenland. Just curious.

Take a look at the routes flown over time - you can do this by clicking on each date - and you will see that there is no standard route.

For the Eastbound this kind of routing is perfectly normal for transatlantic traffic as the stronger jet streams (and therefore tailwind) tend to be further south. Westbound goes up north to avoid the headwinds.

A quick look through Flightradar flight history shows that todays routing is a typical routing at this time of year for the Eastbound by the way.

They were all sold to the same company in the USA.

There's an Aer Lingus A330 arriving into Dublin from Malaga. Is this unusual?

I'd assume it's blocked so that people won't know. Maybe try flight aware? Sometimes it can be shown on that.
