FR908 (RYR10CE) STN-ORK holding at ORK, wind outside limits.

Diverting to SNN. No.7 of the day.

EI723 going around again. Got very low this time.

Between the 2 go-arounds, there was a lull in the wind and WX319 got in, which I notice is a hire in "Jota Avaition" RJ85.

Diverting to Shannon now. NO.8 of the day, but the first Aer Lingus.

    Hey guys,
Just wondering if a flight will take off if there is a chance it will be diverted, Ryanair flight from Malaga due into cork but has been delayed by a couple of hours! Txs.

I'm on EI723 on the ground in Shannon. We floated along at 10ft off for what seemed an eternity on the 2nd approach.

Ryanair flight from Malaga hasn't taken off, the earlier aircraft going GDN-ORK diverted to Shannon, but the aircraft is still there. Chances are the flight will be cancelled.

If it does take off (An aircraft in Malaga could do the flight), the wind will be mostly gone by 11 this evening so it will be fine.

Actually, FR99 off from Shannon now heading to Malaga, so unless the crew goes out of hours it appears the flight from Malaga will be coming back, albeit with an eyewatering delay.

Any reason why it's going to DUB?

  • Registered Users Posts: 110 ✭✭Sisco14

Why diverting to dub not Shannon?

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,170 ✭✭✭✭JCX BXC

Crews decide their alternatives before they depart, in the case of this crew, they decided DUB.

Some factors often considered in selecting an alternative are the following:

    *Weather
    *Affect on Operations
    *Company recommendations.

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,170 ✭✭✭✭JCX BXC

Stobart at Cork requesting an approach to 07, but will be holding after being informed of no approach lights on RWY07, pending decision on whether or not they can make an approach to 07 with no approach lights.

Don't know, pretty sure I saw this once before recently and think that was FR also. Yet STN definitely has cargo flights at night so it's a bit odd

According to Twitter, STN runway closed. Maybe just maintenance as they haven't mentioned anything else.
