EI went around because of "unstable" winds close to touchdown. The BA behind him went around because an EI aircraft had lined up to take off but couldn't proceed because of the EI going around.

Number of aircraft reporting unstable conditions and a tailwind on landing now.

    Changing to 28 shortly.

Late change in wind direction perhaps. Active runway changeover will take place shortly I would suspect.

Looks like those holding are moving back out over the Irish sea so runway changeover taking place.

    Quick question.

I was looking up the flight history of an aircraft earlier, and I noticed that there were also future flights listed too.

Does anyone know how Flightradar gets this info?

An Iberia Express flight from Dublin to Madrid returned to its gate just there after queueing for departure for 15 minutes or so. Anyone know why it didn't take off? Medical or technical issue on board maybe?

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,195 ✭✭✭✭JCX BXC

Lengthy delays at DUB this evening due to the use of RWY16, could possibly be due to this.

15 mins doesnt seem that long of a queue taxi to RWY 10 is 10 mins on its own.

Sounds like a poor excuse to me.
Never going to be that tight on fuel.

SRR6529 from Shannon to Dublin now. A short flight, but had this been diverted to Shannon earlier or maybe it's a charter?

15-20 minutes taxi or in a queue leaves him needing to add fuel???

Reminds me of a flight I was on some years ago some years ago. Aer Lingus Dublin to New York.
We were next in line for take off on 28 for about 15 minutes. Seen a number of landings and was wondering why we hadn't moved. Next thing an announcement came that we were short of fuel due to delays on take off because an earlier landing had burst a tyre. Back we went to the terminal and numerous technical staff floating around the cockpit for over an hour just to add fuel???
A plane can have enough fuel to divert or hold for a time but not queue or taxi for 15 minutes???

They cant use the diversion fuel nor the holding fuel before takeoff, so if they had loaded standard taxi fuel and encountered taxi delays, they wouldn't have the required takeoff fuel.

If they were more familiar with Dublin and realised that 16 was a slow runway, then they might have reacted by taking above standard taxi fuel.

15 minutes taxi time is not out of the ordinary. Not an excuse to refuel IMO

Disagree. How many aircraft were ahead of him? Maybe they had another 15 mins to taxi while waiting? Or even longer.

I held at the hold for 28 last week for 45 minutes. When we started taxiing out there were no delays then there was a bird strike by a landing aircraft and suddenly a 15 minute taxi turned into a short sector!

It's very easy to criticize the comfort of an armchair as they say!

I'm going on the information given.
If it were way longer fair enough. But 15 minutes taxiing or waiting would not impact on most flights. Flight planners would always allow for this and many pilots would add onto that.

Yes, but the point I am making is that, after those 15 mins sitting there there could still be a queue of aircraft in front of them.

Flight plans consider a decent taxi time, and if one is familiar with a runways ops such as 16 here, a crew may opt for extra juice to compensate for the possible taxi delays ( I would and do) but you can't plan for every eventuality, where do you draw the line!
