    Thunderstorms!

Nothing in the actual approach path, its in the event of a go-around you'd have the problem, so aircraft elected to wait until the weather passed.

Did someone just request a divert to Shannon?

Edit: Yep, EI339 (EIN33L) Berlin (TXL)- Dublin (DUB) diverting to Cork. (Originally planned SNN) Climbing 23,000ft.

Is that purely a weather restriction

Yep. Ops stopped for 10 minutes, that coupled with lots of weather avoidance and lots of arrivals caused the delays.

The Emirates was the last schedule flight to take off departing at 2239

I saw him climbing out over the bay just as the storm was rolling in. Not long after he got out, the lightning increased in both frequency and ferocity. It was the right thing to do to halt ops whilst the storm blew over.

His take off look odd from my sofa, we are pretty much at the bottom of the runway on the r132, looked like he was banking left, but it could just have been the wings rolling a little.

Turned left immediately after take off to avoid the cell which was just encroaching on the extended centerline at that point.

EI-DUZ on the way to Orlando from Dublin, it's rare enough to see the A333 do that route? is that close to its full range?

Current EI A333's can make it to the West coast of the USA. Some did so last year during the J Class refit of the A332's.

Saw the plane positioned back to Dublin a while later. With passengers, or did the poor sods get put on a 3hr bus ride back to Dublin?

This service has been operating since at least 2006 so by my reckoning that is about 2,500 weekday evenings on which the flight has operated!

Low visibility and low cloud playing havoc with Dublin's operations this morning. Long takeoff delays.

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,195 ✭✭✭✭JCX BXC

Amazing the difference between the airport and D16. Lovely here on the southside but foggy as hell in the north!
