Was listening to the ATC at EIDW earlier and the wind was 190/15kts and gusting yet 10 was still in use, why wasn't 16 used in those conditions?

16 is only in use when the crosswind exceeds 15kts and is forecast to deteriorate. At that stage it hadnt exceeded it yet.

RWY16 can't handle as many movements as RWY16 due to lack of exit taxiways therefore it slows operations and is not preferred.

The last info I saw posted about this on FB was this:

    Update on the Rossiya B747-400 EI-XLC !!

As it stands the aircraft will be in hanger 6 till Tuesday ( September the 13th ), it is then supposed to go on stand 103C during Tuesday afternoon / early evening for small routine maintenance !! At the moment there is NO confirmed departure time or day !! I hope this helps out a few answers for anyone !! Any info I get I be more than happy to post it !!

AF1558 squawking 7700 enroute Paris to Newcastle looks like hes going to MAN after holding outside Newcastle

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,005 ✭✭✭Pat Dunne

AFR1558 CDG to NCL appears to have been diverted to MAN

Interestingly it did a number of circuits to the west of NCL before diverting to MAN

    Fuel emergency ?

It's possible, the fog is rather dense, its below CAT II minimas (RVR 275m according to Metar), and although NCL has CAT III ILS, its quite possible this aircraft could not avail, for a whole variety of reasons.
