Due to fuel, after only two rounds in the hold.

Another 20minutes of a delay were estimated, they couldn't accept that.

I think they were given an approach time in 10 mins but I may have misheard.

That controller is under a lot of pressure with aircraft querying the delay.

You're correct, my laptop time stuck!

They were given an approach time of 11:55, which is infact a minute away, just outside of their limits.

    I'd say it's with passengers.

Some queue to get into EIDW this evening.

Fortunately wind seems to have dropped out.

FR7087 (VAL - DUB) off to Shannon by the looks of it.

Poor form if stuff is diverting just because the airport is busy.

Its because of the use of RWY16.

    Its also VLC not VAL.

EI3639 seems to be taking a scenic route to Shannon at the moment.

Actually it seems to have been a given a more direct route than via the airway overhead Dublin, albeit not a straight line "direct to Shannon" from overhead NW Wales.

Why did RWY16 mean that it had to divert?

No fast exits, almost all traffic have to roll to the end, so ops are slower, larger separation is required, therefore longer delays.

Someone more qualified can explain it better than me

I have never seen that flight fly overhead Dublin, it always flys via Wales.

Big time. Some awful showers and CB's around.

If the FR24 track is correct it did fly up over Snowdonia but, as CML387 says, maybe wx avoidance is more likely.

10 is now in operation. That should help things a bit. Once they clear the 16 arrivals of course.

Not yet, will be switching soon though.

Should be no more delays in the hold, but there will be knock on delays due to delayed departures from earlier for the rest of the evening.

Can't post links yet but to Silver Breeze's question about Air Corps AW139 to London Heliport yesterday, it was indeed a medical transfer, a few details and photos posted on their Facebook page earlier.

EI109 just left Dublin for JFK some 6 hours late. Anyone know why this is?
