You would think if you can buy an 840d, you would have money for a washing machine at home.
And diesel in an 8-series is just plain wrong.

That is such a passive aggressive comment.

Yeah, he should have just come out and say it as it is. That car is an abomination how could some sick person put a diesel engine in a car like that??!?

The engine is there because it's what sells. You don't honestly expect BMW to offer only the likes of the 840i or M850i when they don't sell in Ireland? Get real folks.

There's only two variants of the 8er available, the 840d at ~115k, or the full fat M850i at 165k.

I really wonder how much the M8 will be. BMW pricing is starting to get ridiculous.

    spot on

I`d expect the M850i to sell in similar numbers to the s500 coupe which by all scales was low here in Ireland.

The diesel is the only way they will gain any traction in Ireland and sell in any real numbers. The price for it is still a bit steep though.

Having spoken to someone who has driven it and knows what they are talking about it drives spectacularly well but it has a tight enough cabin. Standard spec is very good too which take some sting out of the purchase price. It is light years ahead of the old 6 too, which is no harm as it is one of the most soulless and sterile cars I've ever driven, an opinion held by many by all accounts.

    This isn't unique to BMW.
