I'm not sure if the exact location I spotted that but I did walk by a Beckham gallery that looked very busy

Looks like a Model X to me, funny seeing two opposites ends of the car industry side by side

Near sure RRR 1 belongs to a London RR dealer who has it on a demo car. I previously seen photos on instagram of it on a ghost and older phantom too and near sure one of the posts mentioned it was a dealer demo car but I could very well be wrong :)

Quick search suggests the same on a pistonheads topic

Unfortunately didnt get pics but saw a 181 D Lamborghini Huracan Performante roar towards Leeson street this morning. Black with the thin italian stripe up the side. Gorgeous sound.

    Identical to this one

A few from Frankfurt this year, and carrying on from Marcinek's post above, a Huracan Performante Spyder

    and their new Sian

Electric everything from a much smaller VW stand this year. New ID.3 isn't bad looking if you can imagine it with more normal wheels and more attractive paint.

    48771177091_1b0fd994da.jpg

Interior is a bit 'different'- those two screens and the glossy switches are going to be impossible to keep free of grubby fingerprints. Less garish colours are available...

    48771381417_4806279c1a.jpg

All in all a nice car, but interior quality a bit below the Golf.

Mercedes had only about half the floor area they had in 2017. They showed off the EQS concept, think future S-Class.

    48770862788_bfb77ce7d0.jpg

Also showed the production version of the EQC, which is an X3/Q5 sized SUV and a very nice one too.

    48771196971_b743e58d97.jpg

And just to show there's life in petrol power yet, they kindly brought along an AMG GT.

    48770865408_1f6d7e7f10.jpg

Mercedes-Maybach showed off their latest offering for African dictators and monstrously wealthy Asian businesspeople. If you told me Kim Jong Un had one of these, I'd believe it...

BMW showed off the new 4 Series concept. Looks lovely from the side, if maybe a bit A5-ish around the rear side window.

    48771411762_a9ba7f5855.jpg

But OMG that grille... it looks worse in the metal than in the photo

    48770880118_3e6671de12.jpg

    and their 'Vision Next' concept...

    48771407227_556962a103.jpg

Alpina's stand was next door, highlight for me was their take on the 5 Series Touring...definitely getting one if I win the lotto.

Several Chinese makers had stands this year. This offering is a Byton M-Byte, which apart from its stupid name, is a pretty good looking machine.

    48770890373_7aa27663c9.jpg

Think I remember reading that a guy from Cork was on their design team. Google will confirm.

Also, it wins the prize for the most ludicrous dashboard...

    48771221381_0ff4500dbc.jpg

A company called Hongqi, who I'd never heard of, brought two concepts, a massive SUV and a sports car...

    48771428102_732ae86560.jpg

    48770892468_8c26803b5a.jpg

I've a few others, but these are probably the most interesting. Definitely was a lot smaller this year, lots of manufacturers missing (no Bentley, Rolls Royce, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Nissan, Toyota/Lexus, Peugeot/Citroen, Fiat/Jeep, & others), those which did come all had smaller stands than before & showed fewer cars. Lot of focus on electrification, mobility, very little motorsport focus (Honda did show the Red Bull F1 car though). There is talk of it being scrapped in 2021, but hopefully it won't come to that.

Maybe, I genuinely dont know. But the Porsche looks better, I would bet my mortgage is built better, has the support of an extensive dealer network and has a stronger brand name. The Model S is a 5+ year old design (a good one, it still looks fresh) and has had the market for fast fully electric saloons to itself forever. Depending on how Porsche price it, the Taycan will be a serious challenger in that market. Will be interesting to see how/if Tesla can respond.

apparently the tesla was stripped out (seriously tinted windows can't confirm or deny that claim) but it did have bigger brakes and flared wheel arches than the standard car.....

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,309 ✭✭✭✭wotzgoingon

I'd believe it was striped out so if they done the external modifications. I wonder can you tune then for more power like a ICE car. I'd imagine you can like all cars as manufacturers turn down some stuff so cars last longer.

I believe if you take the batteries out and put them in the other way round you get more horsepower.

Taycan will be over €300k in Ireland not a competitor to the Model S at all.

From what I hear It`ll be around €150k base and will go up to €200k+.

With the €50k BIK cap for exemption of EV`s brought in by big paschal in the last budget any of the company directors who would have bought one for the savings more than likely will not.
