Not anymore. It used be Renault Alpine but as far as I know they're a separate company now and the A110, while based on an old design was built from the ground up to be what it is.

...but it says so on Wikipedia...
Based on an all-aluminium construction, the A110 is powered by a 1.8-litre turbocharged gasoline direct injection 4 valves per cylinder inline-four engine mated to 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission manufactured by Getrag. Developed by Renault–Nissan and reworked by Alpine engineers, the engine has an output of 252 PS (185 kW; 249 hp) at 6,000 rpm and 320 N⋅m (236 lb⋅ft) of torque at 2,000–5,000 rpm. According to Alpine, the A110 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 4.5 seconds, and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).[1]

Because it has a Renault designed engine? Most Mercs sold in Ireland are glorified Renaults and a decent chunk of BMWs are Peugeots by your standards then.
You obviously didn't read my second link.
    Alpine is owned by Renault.

Regardless of who made what, that's a nice spot. I've heard they are a great little motor and we need more of that kind

Heard this coming, flew past and I had to resist the urge to cut across I to the other Lane to follow it. Some roar off it, Aventador I think?

Haven't seen it around before, UK plates BU something.

Judging by the noises I heard outside a while ago I reckon it's a new addition / visitor to the country hopefully to stay.

There's a UK plated very new Aston Martin I've seen two or three times around the area now as well, put a pic of it up a few pages back.

Is there a reason for such an ugly rear on the ipace? I like the f pace a lot but jaysus the rear end of that ipace is like they just gave up when they got to it.

Looks like the box shaped cars you'd draw in primary school

It's a nice car... until you get to the rear end of it where it's a bit of a let down.

Is it possible that the batteries were taking up a lot of room and designing the boot like that allows for more space?

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,590 ✭✭✭tossy

Back of it looks like an Armoured personnel carrier

The arse of that jag almost makes the arse of a Pontiac Azteca look nice.
    Almost

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,152 ✭✭✭26000 Elephants

I guess when you have to stretch the wheelbase to fit in all the batteries, then fit a big motor over the rear axle a and then still need to have room in the boot, you end up with a rear with the same deadrise as a barge.
