Does anyone know where I could go to get contemporary house numbers for the front exterior of our house? Nothing fancy, just simple brushed/matt chrome or steel numbers.
    thanks.

On my old house I had this as my number.

Always thought it was classy and understated....good quality too. And decent price.

They're lovely but I specifically wanted the numbers on their own... something like this http://www.housenumbers.co.uk/contemporary-sans-serif-font-6-c.asp but not as big. Would rather see them than order online though.

I have scoured the Internet for versions in ireland and no luck! You should probably just chance those ones on Amazon. They seem a good price.

Try etsy. I've been looking for numbers like that for ages. A lot of the stockusts on etsy are American and don't deliver to Ireland but there were a handful that did. My problem was my house number also has a letter and the few that did deliver to Ireland didn't do letters.

Clearly there is a niche in the market here for someone to make, and sell, metal house numbers!

So a year later, I'm back looking at house numbers again. I just can't get over that there is no Irish supplier. Every second house around certain areas of dublin has these numbers. Is everyone buying them in from the UK or further.

I'm just about to press purchase on these ones: http://www.designmyhousenumber.co.uk/numbers.php in a brushed aluminium.

@ Tuhula, no none of those places sell them.

@niman, I've seen the ebay ones too. I sppose I just wanted to see them in the flesh before we bought. When you add in p&p etc and 3 numbers (typical!), they're pretty pricey!

We are having the same quest! just wondering did you buy these in the end? We're you happy?

Contact a local sign company they'll sort you out.

Encountering the same difficulty here in trying to get house numbers and a personalised parcel/post box. Etsy has the finest selection of modern house numbers and personalised mail boxes online that I've come across, and they do deliver to Ireland. However, they wanted to charge me US$165 (€137) to deliver this post box.

The House Name Plate Company in Britain seem to have a near monopoly on personalised letter boxes in this part of Europe, but they want to charge £160 sterling for this aesthetically old fashioned but functional parcel box (as the range of boxes that can be personalised is much smaller, I'm having difficulty finding an aesthetically nice box that can accept A4 letters and be personalised). Most of the Amazon.co.uk personalised post boxes seem to come from the same housenameplate.co.uk domain.

The hopeful-sounding domain Letterboxes.ie doesn't have a single result under "personalised" or "Irish" or "Gaeilge" (the box will have Irish rather than English on it). And the vast majority of their boxes are either office style silver post boxes or old fashioned house ones. The tons of houses with a contemporary look aren't getting an Etsy style design.

Definitely a gap in the market for these in Ireland.

I ended up chancing it and buying numbers from knobs and knockers, fully expecting them to be horrible. But to my surprise they were actually ok. I got brushed chrome (fully rust proof) in what looks like a tahoma font. Think they were about €20ish for each number.

They are priced €19.50 for the 6 inch and €13.50 for the 4 inch.

Yes, I'd say that's it (I bought in store so not 100% sure). I bought the 6inch and the size is perfect.
