    Hi All

I have 2 central heating pumps, one for an oil boiler and one for a stove, stove one is on a temp stat & oil one is timed.
when both pumps are on they fight as they are plumbed to go in opposite directions.

is there a switch that will switch off the oil boiler when the Stove kicks in, and then switch back on the oil pump when the stove turns off ??

    Hope this is clear

A relay switched on by the stove pipe stat can lock out the oil boiler and its pump. So once the stove pipe stat closes when it's pipe heats up, the stove pump comes on as well as this relay, and the oil boiler and its pump won't start or run.

They should be plumbed in such a way, as well as having non return valves anyway, so stove doest heat the oil boiler, and vice versa, so rather than pump against each other, they would both pump through the radiators together if both did happen to be on together.

It would also be possible to install an interlock arrangement relays that prevent both pumps running ta the same time.

You say the stove pump is on a temp stat, is it a pipe stat?

The Normally open contact would normally be used on the pipe stat to drive the stove pump. The normally closed contact on the pipe stat could be used to feed the other pump. Note this would also have to run via a time clock as you don't want it running all the time.

Or as mentioned above the normally closed contact on the pipe stat can drive a relay which would allow power to the pump.

What ever the setup make sure the pump isn't always running or a relay constantly powered up.
