and where the money came from

We all know the answer to that!
If the rumours are to be believed, since the murder in Spain last year and follow up aftermath in regency, money paid to the cartel and the dissos, funeral and headstone, they must have spent well over half a million.

Gardaí investigating criminal activity in Dublin have seized €350,000 in cash and arrested three men in their 40s.

The arrests were made after gardaí stopped a number of vehicles on the M1 motorway north of Swords in Co Dublin yesterday evening.

The cash was contained in vacuum packs, in a holdall.

Follow-up searches were conducted in a number of areas.

A vacuum packing machine and associated equipment were recovered in Tallaght, while hypnotic drugs with a street value of €10,000 were seized in Baileboro, Co Cavan.

Two of the men have been released, and files are to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The third man remains in custody at Swords Garda Station.

Why vacumn pack cash, would it be for burial for a while or something?

They would be better storing gold. After 20 years in the big house they won't be able to use any paper money they have put away.

Could be or for ease of transport! Doubt it was in €500 note though rare enough in Ireland.

Other EU countries want to get rid of €500 notes because of gangs of all sorts love how easy they stack!

    The bin Laden bank note!

    Proper order!
Yeah the vacuum packed would be definitely to put off sniffer dogs.
The dogs that sniff out money find it very easy to smell it like cannabis

Would that kind of money not be laundered here into legitimate companys and than transfered out for pallet of bananas or whatever trying to go by plane or boat with that kind of money would be idiotic with sniffer dogs and all.

So does removing the oxygen by vac-packing eliminate the odour for dogs or something?

Also the odour of cash- how do dogs pick this up, would the cash not be soaking up all kinds of odours throughout its circulation?

Mr big needs a thread of his own! Is he associated with Kinahan cartel knew he was an independent but has been seen with paul rice after regency?

No oxygen = no carrying of the odour.
It's the ink used on the cash that Labradors particularly, are trained to sniff out.
The thing is, most notes have traces of cocaine on them (fact) and this adds to the dogs excitement when they sniff out cash!
Two for one in their excitement.

The third individual arrested over the Gareth Hutch murder is A feared Ballymun gangster suspected of being one of the shooters who murdered Gareth Hutch.

The career criminal, who is now in custody, has some 80 previous convictions for offences including threatening to kill a woman, drug dealing, criminal damage, road traffic and possession of firearms.

He was released from prison last year.

On top of his organised crime connections, the north Dublin man also has connections with a well-known Dublin businessman, who has been the subject of garda raids in the past but has denied any involvement in crime.

The arrested criminal was previously involved in another feud that gripped Ballymun after a man was shot in the back of the head more than a decade ago.
Strange one. Now they're saying he was the other shooter. He's easily found with a google search with those details. Makes me wonder what role Tossy Fox had then.

John keogh is the main man behind that shooting

Is there something off with the numbers in that story or was the guilty guy only 11 when the shooting happened.

It's pretty obvious he was 22 at the time of the article which is dated 2007 if you look, making him 31 or 32 now.

Did something go down this morning. Passed Store street at 6:30 and there was police barrier tape and checkpoints across both sides of the Bus Aras Luas stop. Bus Aras was close as no busses can use it and a check point on Tolbot street. 3 garda cars in all with the blues still flashing.

    Nothing on RTE yet.

We can also reveal how a senior member of The Monk’s mob had links to a criminal gang caught with €350,000.

The cash was seized when officers from the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau swooped on two cars on the M1 outside Swords, Co Dublin, on Tuesday night.

Investigators believe the money, contained in vacuum packs and stashed in a holdall bag, was to be used for a major drugs shipment.

As part of the same probe, cops recovered a vacuum packing machine and other equipment at a property in Tallaght.

Zopiclone sleeping tablets worth €10,000 were also seized from a house in Baileboro, Co Cavan.

Three men, including one from south Dublin, were arrested. Two of the suspects were later released while the third remains in custody.

A source added: “This gang are extremely sophisticated and have close links to a senior member of the Hutch gang.

“They are major targets for the DOCB and this operation has caused them serious disruption to their ongoing criminality.”

Does this smell like sensationalist journalism bull****?? Everyone now has a connection to either side!

Was it a pure fluke that they were caught?

Not sure why everyone thinks they have no links to other forms of crime???
It's obvious they are heavily involved, as Gary was!

No! Just like it wasn't a fluke they found all the other players!
There is a photograph online of Gary's funeral back last year that shows a number of players allegedly involved in the regency attack, in planning, logistics and execution!

Don't need to be a detective to know where to look!

Totally accept that point there are no angels and intertwined with each other but that seizure because of baliboro link to Mr big.whos linked to paul rice who is still Kinahan linked!

The monk mob as there are being called now supposeingly have no money very little members outside Hutch name's and can't step sideways without gardai all over them alot more won't come out until after the court cases linked to this feud.

Cavan became quite the refuge for a lot of different criminals (Kinihan big men, rotten detectives, guys that cashed out of the game, republicans of all hues that were involved in criminality, Mr. Big's crew etc.) in the last 15 years. There were nice houses to be had for less money to keep your family in a quieter, safer surrounds. Even a spot of property development to clean up some grubby money.
It even became quite the thing to build your own- especially if you were experienced in construction yourself ;).

Hutch's connections to dissidents and INLA would have me sceptical of Mr. Big's involvement with the Hutch's because of that.
Although he is thought to be quite a pragmatic businessman.
