Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Poorly Kitten

So poor Willow, my 6 month old kitten, is unwell. She had colitis recently and was on a special diet and everything cleared up fine... then, on Monday she started vomiting blood so it was off to the vets.
The vet carried out xrays to check for foreign bodies & ran bloods to check for poisons etc. with nothing showing up, however she was very constipated.
She has had to have a couple of enemas and has been a resident in the vets last night and has to stay over again tonight as her bowels are not moving on their own at all and she is on IV fluids. (We miss having her at home!)
Obviously we are very concerned, it doesn't seem like the vet knows why this is happening (I've to go tomorrow to have a chat with them, so might get more information then).
Have any of the knowledgeable cat people here ever encountered anything like this before?

So, we are still worried, two nights in vets but her bowls still not moving on their own :( she having some more tests this morning so I've to ring later to see if she can come home :( very worrying, I've never come across anything like this before with the cat babies.

Just wanted to update here because I did a lot of googling while this was going on & would have loved to read resolutions on some of the threads I found on various websites.
Willow is doing well now & we are getting back to normal. Apparently she has 'lazy bowel' which vet predicts is a lifelong condition. She's been put on a prescription high fibre diet which seems to be working well so far.
Just as an aside, thank goodness for insurance, whole episode turned out to be pretty costly in the end, but happily things are back to normal!

Well if you're on a high fibre diet for kitty look at getting some psyllis husks powder (a tea spoon at most per day) as that is very high fibre and will help bulk things up as well (good back up thing to have in case you run out of the normal food).

Thanks Nody, at the moment the vet has her on Royal Canin fibre response which I'm not mad about but will be doing some research into alternatives, so this is really helpful.
    Thanks!
