"During a late night, Madonna was returning from a rehearsal, when a pair of men held her at knifepoint and forced her to perform fellatio"

Is that one of her lesser known hits?

Regarding her name; I remember all the controversy when Madonna arrived on the scene. All that provocative carry on "How can she call herself Madonna"? people were shocked at the time :)

I also seem to remember that Cyndi Lauper burst onto the music scene just before madonna!

The last good dancing tune by Madonna, even with all that camel toe on show!

Aye ABBA had some cracking tunes alright. :D

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

    Which all worked.

Because she sold millions upon millions of records.

Before anybody realised, she is a terrible singer, who can barely hold a tune.

It was all about the sex, and the titilation, and the outrage

Bullshít to say she was a terrible singer who could barely hold a tune. She could sing for sure - as evidenced in her songs. She wasn't an amazing singer obviously but that doesn't mean she couldn't sing.

She was also an excellent dancer, performer and visual creative. She sure was sexually OTT (as was Prince) but that wasn't the only thing to her.

What she couldn't do (most of the time) was act. She was good in Desperately Seeking Susan and apparently in Evita, but the catalogue in between was not good.

Most people can sing. Many can hold a tune. Is there not a calvacade of thousands of these folk on our tellies on Saturday nights for the past decade or so, none of whom became pop stars ? And then Simon Cowell, who knows a bit about the manufactured pop music industry, having scored hits by such musical talents from soap operas, TV shows, WWE wrestlers and of course those renowned singers Zig and Zag, pronounced, that it was not about people who could sing, it was people that had the " X Factor ". And of course, he is right.

Madonna had the X Factor, charisma, personality, ambition. But she truly was and is an awful singer, it's just that the sexual marketing put her out there. She could have been an author, an actress, a model. Her personality was the product, and it just so happened that she monetised it through music.

See Katie Price. Childrens author, clothes designer, whatever. She is the product, others pin something to it to financially exploit it.

Anyone cold have sung those songs better than Madonna. It just so happened she marketed them with overt sexuality, and willingness to become a media whore, which other performers may have not been prepared to do.

Prince was a talented man who played numerous instruments and was technically proficient in the recording studio. The sex was an added extra. The music was first with Prince.

Did you expect her to emulate Enya or something?

You're only after pointing out how talented Madonna is, and she's still going. Prince is of course talented, for sure, but both of them are as successful as they are because they are the whole package, both of them can sing, both of them are artists, both of them are performers.

No, there is room in the market for sexual titilation.

Madonna had a variety of talents, but singing was the lesser of them.

No I agree Prince was far more talented than Madonna, but my point was that the sex stuff wasn't the entire sum of her, even if it was a big part.

Yeah she isn't a great singer but it's dishonest to say she is so bad she couldn't hold a tune. That's demonstrably untrue.

Madonna...'more pricks than a second hand dart board!', according to my granda :pac::pac::pac:

Your point might have some merit if it weren't for the fact that Madonna is still outselling newcomer teenyboppers 30 years later. There's a difference between suggesting she isn't a talented singer, and recognising that you're clearly more focussed on the fact that she was a savvy business woman who knew exactly how to make herself stand out in a sea of mediocrity. She isn't just a talented singer, she's an incredibly intelligent self-promoter, and she has marketed herself brilliantly, but could have done none of it if she wasn't already an incredibly talented singer.

Not your taste perhaps, but that's another story.

Name or show me the definitive madonna vocal performance.... I'm genuinely interested to see any evidence of her supposed vocal talent.
