Same front 8, same plan to bench.

I've the same too. Alli being benched.

Oh yeah they are Home to Chelsea, think that's the plan then.
Who is the best option? VVD?
Was gonna Bertrand as I have Targett as backup.

Jonas Olsson I have, guess I could even go Alder/Olsson/Smith for G27.

Could even go For Fuchs next week if I don't make an attacking change.
Not bad for GW27 though I'd have a Saints def ahead of Smith.
I went for VVD last week 'cause he got less YC and is good for BP. Alas Fonte (the one I was hesitating with) got the 2 BPs.

In fairness I'd say Fonte, VVD & Bertrand are all as good as eachothers. Didn't know the Bertrand Targett situation. In your case I'd pick him then ;). Nice and easy .

I agreed at first. But then thinking about it I'm like, I could do Kane (or Vardy) to Lukaku this week and captain him, and then do the reverse transfer next week.

Not my optimal strategy usually at all, but if I was going to captain him there'd be an argument to be made for it I think?

I regret selling him earlier than planned but there is no way I'd waste 2 transfers with all the planning that's needed for weeks ahead . And he is still a troll as last week showed :D

Is he worth 4 captain points? I think that's what the key question at play here. I'm beginning to think so. Do I dare?

I think I'm gonna chance Payet if he has signed the new contract he will be a happy bunny

I agree that 'onte, VVD & Bertrand are all as good as eachother'

but as chairperson of the Cedric fan club I reckon he's by far the best Saints defence option, followed by Forster, then the other 3.
if Bertrand reverts to LB or deployed at LWB I may double up with Bert and Cedric.

Would be great if Yoshida (4.0) continues as CB in a back 5 with Bertrand LWB but itsd be risky to buy him
when Targett is fit he should play LWB if they play a back 5, with Bertrand CB-which lessens Bertrands's attacking potential.

Targett is very highly rated at the club and had Bertrand not been signed he would have stepped directly in Shaw's LB spot in August 2014.

So for 0.5 cheaper Cedric is nailed on for RB or RWB. I don't see the advantage of relying on Fonte/Virgil to be relying on the slim chance of a goal(That's why I'd rank Forster with potential save points ahead of them)

    As a saints fan I'd rank their defensive options as follows;
    1. Cedric
    2. Forster
    3. Bertrand-VVD-Fonte
    4. Targett
    5. Yoshida

And wouldn't touch any attackers unless a 5th non playing MF.

It's only worth it if you think Lukaku(x2) will outscore Kane and your current captain(Aguero?) by 4 points.

That's the conundrum alright. With the West Brom defence as it is I could see it.

I brought in Van Dijk this week and was happy to go with a defence of:

Van Dijk (SWA a), Daniels (STK h), Delaney (WAT h) - Subs: Sagna (TOT h), Targett (SWA a)

Now Targett seems to be fit, I'm wondering should I start him? And for who? My worry is he would start on the bench and come on for a 1. But on the other hand, if he starts LWB, he would have some good attacking potential.

    Any thoughts?

My team, thoughts?? I'm struggling this week !

    DDG (Butland)
Dier - Cedric - Bellerin (Monreal) (Huth)
Sigurdson - Mahrez - Alli - Barkley (Payet)
    Giroud - Lukaku (C) - Kane

Thinking of banking my transfer this week but would appreciate any input

I think I'm going to do this, but for Vardy instead of Kane. I get that I'm taking a chance on Lukaku (x2) outscoring Aguero + Vardy but I think he will.

I'm still able to have 11 for Gw27+30 and 11 DGW players for 34 assuming the FA Cup fixtures go the way I expect them.

They'll be only one points hit along the way, but I'm sure there's a week I'd want to do that anyway.

Get rid of Barkley, I've been trying to do it for weeks and this is finally his week I hope! Blank in GW27 as well

Can I ask why get rid of Barkley?
Have I just made a massive mistake getting him in on my FT?

Probably the most thought I've ever put into a transfer . Due to blanks potential upcoming dgws etc. I have 2 fts and came up with wolly to ake as the move that will suit my team most. Ake has a good fixture next week. I'm hoping he has a blank in 30 which should give me a double in 34 of west ham and west Brom and once Watford don't make the semi finals a game in 35 against Norwich.

I wouldn't bench Payet against Norwich. I have both Payet and Alli and am benching Alli.

Poor returns for past few GWs barring the 2 penalties against Newcastle which were a fluke really as Baines and Lukaku were gone off

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,153 ✭✭✭✭normanoffside

    My team is currently:

    Butland (McCarthy)
    Daniels, Bellerin, Fonte (Simpson, CDawson)
    Ozil, Mahrez, Payet, Barkley (Fletcher)
    Kane, Lukaku, Aguero

1 FT left and 2.4m itb. I am thinking of banking and doing Lukaku to Vardy and/or Barkley to Siggy next week with a view on GW 27 and 30. I can already field 11 on GW 27 but would rather not start Fletcher. Is it wise to bank my 2nd transfer this week or should I use it already?

His stats are very good recently though and watching the Stoke match I thought he looked dangerous. I'd rather him than Ramsey this week but can no way justify a -4 for possibly two blanks in the next five

Did Silva > Mahrez and have another FT if needs be... Team this week assuming City do Spurs and Arsenal do Leicester  looks like:

    Butland (LLloris)
    Wolly/Target/Nyom (Alder/Simpson)
    Firmino/Alli/Payet/Sanchez (Mahrez)
    Lukaku/Ighalo/Aguerro (c)

Can field 11 already next GW if I go 5-4-1 but should have 2FT to play around with if needs be. Looking forwards to seeing how the double GWs shape up over the next while as still have WC and 3 chips

Silva flag just left as pellegrini said he's ok .think I'll hold now and bring mahrez in next gw.
Might bring in Leicester defender and bench him as also have 2 transfers this gw but happy with my 11
Not sure who yet is Fuchs worth the extra over Simpson ?

Im leaving the captaincy on him out of protest. This season just keeps getting worse.

    I have 2 FTs.

The sensible thing to do would be get Sanchez for Silva? Although he's now fit and Aguero is going to wreck it this weekend.

Assuming I go through with it I need to make up 0.9. I could do Dawson to Simpson or De Gea to Kasper S.

I need to use 1 transfer anyway but I'd potentially be wiser on defensive options after next weekend.

Any chance anyone would confirm that not getting Sanchez is the right thing to do? :)

Sanchez will explode soon. And i'll be glad i have him. He did score a hatrick in the reverse fixture but you'd imagine this one will be tighter. All the same i fancy Arsenal to get the win

Right, head been up my arse with various other ventures and not been in the FF zone for the first time all season.

Made a rather casual silly move last week which cost me a lot of points.

What would ya do with this lot, already shipped Souare for Cedric (was a toss up between him and Moreno and both were dropping) and despite a likely 0.1 loss on Moreno will probably be wise to keep 2 fts till after the Cup games.

    GK - Courtois.

    DEF
Toby (mci), Cedric (swa), Williams (SOU), Moreno (avl), Evans (eve and may be fit)
4 out of 5 away and tough fixtures for some. What 3 do you play here!? Moreno is pox but its Villa. Southampton not scoring much but are on form, funny feeling there will be goals for both sides in SWAvSOU, not great for my defence! Atm Toby and Evans probably benched and hope for the best. Could use my 2nd FT and get a Stoke def but can't see a CS there either.

It looks like a low clean sheets week, so I'm probably gonna let the defence sit even though it looks a bit ropey.

    Front 8
Sanchez v Mahrez, Alli v MCI, Payet v nor, Firmino v avl.
Aguero (c), Kane, Austin of all feckin people.

Austin is again expected to start this week, but he didnt last week. Pelle is back in can't buy a goal mode though so I'd probably see Austin getting decent minutes. Playing him ahead of any of the others though is probably just compounding last weeks stupidness isnt it?

I think Arsenal may shackle Leicester and Mahrez and part of me wants to bench my nemesis again!!!:eek::eek: He averages 7ppg all season but 12ppg when on my bench. :(

Benching Alli could also be an option he love those away games. Kompany back though so Spurs attacking bonanza probably unlikely so playing both Kane and Alli?

Again, a rushed post as I'm too busy to think about it properly. Any help appreciated!!

(RE Austin, Guardian have him starting but did last week too, FFS don't have him in the line up but say "Graziano Pelle returned to the starting XI last weekend, but Charlie Austin will be pushing for his first start in Southampton colours.")

ACtually just found this quote from Koeman about Pelle needing gametime.

“You saw that it was his first match after a long time he was out,” he said.

“He needs game time, he needs more physically in game time, and that was good. It was after five or six weeks and that’s a long time.

“He’s the type of player who needs game time and I expect Graziano this weekend on a higher level than he showed last weekend.”

    Looks like he'll start.

What a stupid move Austin was.

Not as stupid as my Ighalo to Paloschi move :pac:

I think benching Austin is the best choice really. Although I doubt there'll be a Mahrez brace on Sunday. Fun fact: Arsenal have won all 11 games they played at midday in the league!

    never bench alli or mahrez
I'm sticking to this hard and fast rule !
people are forgetting how utterly horrific city were at the back last week!
a half for kompany is not going to change that !
arsenal are much more likely to shut out the foxes than city spurs IMO which is why vardy is currently on my bench

What to do with Alder? Apart from Swansea next week they've some tricky fixtures and then more than likely a blank in gw30. Don't trust his partnership with Wimmer yet despite clean sheets against Norwich and Watford. They may not fare as well against better opposition. Wouldn't mind getting rid for a differential but his 40% ownership is putting me off.

Yeah...leaning that way to be honest.

Kane has been disastrous for me all season and rarely performs in the really big games (open to correction of that but can't think of anything off the top of my head)

Also have Alli and Alderweireld so wary of being over-Spursy
