Hi a friend of mine gave me his old philips dvd home theater system hts8100, h didn't have subwoofer anymore because it was broken. The system wont work without the sub woofer as that is were the main power supply is. i'm just wondering would any active subwoofer do or would I need to track down the suwoofer that came with…

Is there any chance he still has the Sub lying around anywhere ? It would be a bit of a job to get this to work with another sub. Not impossible but it would more than likely cost more than it's worth. If you can get hold of the original Sub then it would be easier to fix it.
