    Hi folks,

I'm trying to decide on two different speaker setups:

    1) I have TV in sitting room with an Onkyo TXnr515 I got from you a few years ago. Just got two big pioneer bookshelf speakers with it at the mo. It's great for music, but notice sound quality isn't great for TV/movies probably because missing the 5.1 setup.
I'm not sure about going for 5.1 setup as I'm not going to get to set up rear speakers, they would end up probably alongside the fronts!
I like the idea of a good soundbar with subwoofer, but feel it would be a shame to bypass the onkyo! As far as I can see there are no soundbars that are considered 5.1?
Looking at these for example: https://euro.richersounds.ie/p-201648-tvb2.aspx
    Any advice welcomed...

    2) I have run a set of stereo cables for zone2 out to the kitchen/living are and have them coming out high on each side of the end wall about 30cm below the ceiling. I haven't really found anything that would suit. In-Ceiling/In-Wall are not an option. I'd like to be able to mount them and direct the sound down & into the room (Neighbours are on other side of wall). Something like the style pictured below, or a tidy set of bookshelves maybe? Will be used for music & radio. I'm under orders for them to be neat and not an eye sore!

Hoping you can give me some inspiration as I'm not sure what I want!
    Thanks.

Hi Fuse, thanks for your post

On your first query, There is one option which is the Yamaha YSP2500. Whilst it is a soundbar, it uses 16 x 2.8cm speakers to create surround sound, reflecting sound beams off walls using their intellibeam system - http://uk.yamaha.com/en/products/audio-visual/hometheater-systems/digital-sound-projector/ysp-2500_g/?mode=model - and this works very well if you cant put the 5 speakers in place for 5.1. Its well worth looking at - http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-200758-ysp2500.aspx?swapstore=1 at £499/€724

On the second, for something small and neat fopr speakers, we have nothing in the style of your photo, but you could look at something like the Mordaunt Short M10 n- http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-200629-m10.aspx at €69.99 or the JBK Control1 - http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-910068-control-1.aspx at €109 (although these are curredntly an in-store only item)

Any of the bookshelf speakers we stock can be mounted on an adjustable wall bracket, so could be angled down to an extent.

Have a look at these first, and if you have any other queries, or something lse grabs your eye, drop me a post or PM

    Cheers

    Hi Brian,

Thanks for the detailed reply. The yamaha soundbar package looks really good, I'm going to do a bit more reading on it. Good to see it has wireless sub and bluetooth. Budget-wise it's a bit high but I'll see what I can manage.

I like the JBL Control 1s as well. Would you be able to source them in white? I should be able to arrange in-store pickup.

    Cheers

At the minute, the JBLs are only available in the black finish I'm afraid

The best option for you in white I can think of is the Monitor Audio Bronze 1 - http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-201366-bronze-1.aspx - at €329 - they are a bit of a jump in price from the JBLs but would be hugely better sounding for it - I could do you a pair of these at €299

    Cheers
