I think its one of the budget brands now, more than likely made by either the Vestel or UMC group.

They are budget TVs, they have either bought or licence the name.

That said, I had one and it was absolutely fine.

If it's a good price go for it. Just don't expect it to be a Samsung..

Yep the name was bought out by some Chinese crowd a few years back. No idea of what the current quality is like as a result but they use to be good. All depends on what you need.

The Blaupunkt brand name is available for hire - if you started a manufacturing business in the morning you can pay to use the brand name....

So basically a 'velcro' brand and completely worthless as a consumer brand name. Ditto several other old reliable names which were bought 'off the shelf' to fool inspire customers, examples include Polaroid (TVs made in China for Asda), Bush (Argos), Nordmende (KAL Ireland), Blomberg (Arcelik, the parent company of Beko) etc. etc.

You can also add the likes of Philips, Toshiba, Hitachi, Sharp, Sanyo to that list.

Also think some of the low end Panasonic and Sony TV aren't made by them.

I honestly suggest spending a bit more and getting a Samsung, they're usually on the cheap side, of course not as cheap as the blaupunkt.

Depends on the model but recently made by UMC who now also do Sharp in Europe.

Beware UMC are now doing TV's with 2.4GHz remotes instead of good old fashioned infra red. If anything happens the remote , good luck trying to find a replacement or universal.
