    Hi, folks. We are getting a bill sent to our home for someone who doesn't live here and whose name we've never heard. The mailing address is our address, but we don't know the person it's being sent to. I called your customer service the first time it happened (this is the second time) and they said just to mark on the unopened envelope that the addressee isn't at this address, and you'd take care of the issue.

    This time, I can see through the address window that the bill is actually for service at a completely different address <snip>. I'm happy to send the envelope back again as before, but I'd like to make sure it is taken care of and we aren't on the hook for someone who doesn't receive mail here.  Thanks!

    Thank you for getting in touch. We regret any inconvenience caused.

    We wish to reassure you that you would never be deemed liable for a bill that is in someone else's name. It is the name that matters rather than the address.

    If, as you say, you can see the premises address through the envelope window, we would recommend forwarding the item to that address.

    Otherwise, do please return to sender.

    Can you also please remove that address from your public post?
