Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So I traded in the e93 M3 for this... First impressions is that its a big heavy comfortable and very powerful car!! Can't put the power down in cold wet conditions at all so I'll need to wait for things to dry and warm up to get the most out of it.....

Well you would think you could get it washed before taking a photo :D Yep thats a weapon of a car.

The boom may be back in parts, but people have also had enough of a decade of austerity, we took other people medicine and now its our turn to peep out from under the rocks.

Funny I saw a 520d in a bmw dealer with all m performance parts on it, was 88k new. For the second hand petrol head there is still value to be had.

Not saying there's any here but I despise the begrudgery in this country. More power (pun intended) to you, Oral Surgeon and Matt Simis for owning those cars. Am I jealous? Of bloody course I am!!....but I also know that those cars were hard-worked for.

Fitz - how long will you be holding onto the M4? I might have a buyer for you when you're done with her :D

With regard to the 520d for 88k......I know "normal" people would probably go for that but we all know what we'd spend that kind of money on (and have change left over for over 6 years of tax)!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,576 ✭✭✭carsfan2

    A 520d for 88k is insane but it’s only 190euro to tax!

However I’m guessing it’s the day to day costs of running an m5 are what stop a lot of people.
Who would win a drag race between the m4 and m5?

Youtube would say the M5. Depends on the length of the drag, off the line and to 100kph with fairly close but after that the M5's power and gearing would take it away after that. I will have to find out (on private land of course).

No plans to sell the m4, might get another car instead.

The link is from Carwow youtube channel. They do a few random comparisons, like a Superb 280 v M760Li.

Their video from a standing start, the m4 beat the m5 over a 1/4 mile

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,576 ✭✭✭carsfan2

I’m surprised. I thought m5 would win especially that 30 jahre version has 30 more horse power over standard model.

Anyway Christmas came early to the pair of you!
What other car would go with the m4 fitzgeme?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,381 ✭✭✭vintagevrs

I hate the term "the boom is back".

People get qualified, work hard and put a lot of thought into where they put their hard earned. To then just say ah the boom is back winds me up, especially if I were in a position to buy a proper M car or something else special.

Fair fecks to those that put their money where their mouth is and stomach the ridiculous system for owning nice cars in this country.

People give out about a dentist spending money on that car.

He has to work hard to get to be his own floss.

Me - I'm the molar opposite.

I appreciate he worked hard to be able to put that plaque on the office wall.

I'd be sick to my back teeth of comments like that.

I'm sure he has had his filling of them.
