Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

205 40 17". Standard alloy for the FR Facelift (Not many in Ireland). They look pretty big because the car is so small :P

I was looking a newer Volvos this week and the salesman reckoned he could have me in an S90 for 400 a month with a 10% deposit when the hire stuff comes back. I didn't bite..

€400 a month is savage money for any car really IMO unless you are a massive earner who wouldn't miss that kind of figure. €15 a day just to some day own an S90. A good looking car and all but I'll take one in ten years time when they are €1500 on donedeal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,140 ✭✭✭James Bond Junior

I didn't think 400 a month was mad money and it would be well within my budget... but I can think of far more things to spend it on. I am hoping to move abroad for work next year so it would be financial suicide to enter into any type of finance agreement right now.

Currently awaiting collection - Monday cannot come quick enough. Will be sad to sell my E92 which is going to make way for it.

€400 is not a lot if its a PCP deal that you keep repeating. But as a HP/Bank loan for a couple of years you intend paying off and keeping the car its not a lot. I would rather have big repayments and get it paid off in two years rather than 5 years of low repayments and a lot more interest. TBH if you buy a brand new car and drive it for 10 years I think at that stage it owes you nothing. Know someone who does this buys 50-70k new cars keeps them for 10 years gets another new one has two cars on the run this way.

Thanks Wailin, it's a 428i in mineral grey metallic, interior is coral red leather and black.

Very nice, and very rare in this country! 245bhp petrol. Well wear.
Post more pics of that interior when you get the chance!

    I would love 400 a month. My repayments on the 330d are 650 a month :o

400 a month for an S90 with a 10% deposit sounds a bit too good to be true to me. Is it a PCP?

Yeah..... figures seem strange...and just using crude figures.... €5k ish deposit...... €15k in monthlies over the 3 years.....there's 60% of €50k still outstanding.

€400/month with 10% deposit puts you in a €30k car generally......dunno how old an S90 needs to be to get to that value.... 2 years anyway you'd expect.

I dunno in PCP land is 400/month a lot though to the other point.... I see it as you have to earn 800 to spend 400 on a car PCP plan. Anyone not being taxed at the higher rate spending 400/month on car payments would be frugal enough with everything else. (I know effectively no one pays 50% tax too but ye know what I mean no doubt)

400 a month on an S90 is damn good, what was the GMV though?!

Monthly payment size comfort is always relative to what you can budget without feeling the pinch a bit too much. But getting a flagship Volvo for 400pm sounds super reasonable to me. :D

On the s90, he said when the hire stuff comes back so think he means a fresh 2nd hand one.

Indeed.....still it'd need to be ,€30k to fit the 400/month. Dunno how fresh a 30k s90 would be :pac:

In fairness though the S90 is a stunning car to drive (and look at)

I had one last year for a few days and was well impressed with it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,140 ✭✭✭James Bond Junior

I didn't go through it with him properly. I was in looking at a 14 S80 he had taken in that morning and it wasn't for me. I commented as I was leaving on how nice the S90 was and he said I could have you in one for 400 pm in a few months. That was the extent of the conversation tbh. It could well have been a 5 year HP as he was trying to sell me an S60 on HP as it was. Unforunately for him, I had 90% made up my mind to keep my own S60 for another while yet so I wasn't interested in the brass tacks.

You'll have to let us know it it's worse on fuel than the ST as I think it will be.

Sofar it seems better as the slightly detuned engine mated to the geartronic auto and heavy body encourages smooth driving. Plus ST was running on limits of stock turbo with twice the boost etc etc.

It really needs the Pro NAV screen to finish it off imo.

Yeah sure does I'm in middle of deciding where to get the android 10.25 screen so I'll probably be ordering one next week when I make up my mind.

The small screen ruins the entire look of the dash it just looks so cheap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,297 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

If you can get an Android touchscreen for not much more than the standard Pro NAV then it would be the way to go.

One thing to note though is that you probably won't get the Sport gauge dials to work after a retro fit as the original iDRIVE would have had to had it as they are hooked up to sensors in the engine bay. The Sport gauges were standard on the NBT Pro NAV from 2013 onwards.

I'm not really too pushed on them to be honest mate but I think they will work on it with an obd link.

I can get the newer model android screen which is the 2gb ram and 32gb storage model for 420 euro plus reversing camera from a company in the UK.

    Any link to the screen?

Will it also play nice with the factory reversing camera? Have the standard nav in one and it's not great but the Android one sounds like it would do what we want.

I don't have a link for the 2gb screen but I can get a link for the 1gb on eBay.

Yeah it is fully plug and play it switches between android and I drive via the menu button and the android can be controlled via the I drive control.
