They are valid for a year so you don't need to use them straight away. You don't need to be an iD mobile customer as they don't verify any details.

Car ads are €5 and they often run free promos when certain sections are lacking ads. But generally donedeal is not free.

I tried from 2 different emails. One I've used before with Donedeal - no reply. The other - new to them, got a reply to say that I wasn't in their system.

Well thats changed as I just got a reply asking me for my iD number

Quick response I did get a mail asking for my phone number but in the mail I sent I asked for 2 vouchers and got this mail back valid for 1 year

Just give a random 089 number. DoneDeal certainly don't have access to iD's phone number database. Shouldn't be any issues. Its just for them to keep track I'd say. They never asked me at all.

I got an e-mail today with the vouchers. How would i know the credit has been applied to my doe deal account? I cant find my balance when I log into the website

You have to go and post and ad and then under payment you can utilise voucher and goes to zero for payment.

I never received anything but I know why, I just emailed them as per OP but with empty email body so their support system did not register this as a valid ticket. When I replied to it with text in body I got a ticket created.
