Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Aston Villa versus Liverpool Thread of the match

Liverpool come not to play against Villa in Villa Park which is Villa's home ground.

Villa are hoping to repeat their 6-1 result from the 1931/32 season, their highest scoring victory against Liverpool.
Liverpool fans are probably wishing that Fowler was still in his prime and that they could repeat their once customary 3-0 victory over Aston.
But as Grayditch has said, villa are likely to get a result here today gaining confidence against a fcuking dreadful Liverpool team.

I have more confidence and believe it could a cracking 0-0 draw with both teams playing dire football.
Disappointed Owen won't be commentating on tele today.

All eyes on this one, the main match of the day. Really need to get the three points here and put in a performance before a worldwide audience.

Villa fans are hoping for a 1-0 win in any form of dodgy way it comes, be it a glorious display of perfect football, or more likely a deflection off the referee from a Mignolet clearance after we give the ball back to him from a stoppage after injury (statistically our only shot on target)

Another contribution to the Villa relegation party please. A heavy one would be preferable but I would settle for 0-1.

No harm that this game is almost certainly the last pick on TOTP er MOTD ;)

Usually in the Liverpool box. Maybe Klopp will throw him in goals today.

Bunn Richards Okore Lescott Cissokho Westwood Gana Bacuna Veretout Gil Gabby

Pretty much best team we have available, and unchanged from Norwich

    Three OGs....

Skrtel still out so no chance.

Unless villa are feeling generous for us.

Lallana and Lucas both injured apparently. Minor issues, hence not in the squad.

    No Lucas on the bench...

Stewart deserves the call up though.

Looking forward to seeing if that front 3 can gel quickly. I hope Firmino doesn't go back to being awful again when played out wide. His only good performances have come when he was the focal point of our attack.

I think Sturridge is a real difference-maker. Hopefully he can make the Villa back line a bit more unstable and uneasy than others have been doing - that in itself will allow for creation of more opportunities.

Against West Ham, when he came on, I thought his ability shone above most of the other players. Hard, precise, direct passes. It was a real pleasure to see.

Anyone getting the Sturridge injury pool going?

    24th minute.

    11th v 20th qualifies as super Sunday?

Is there not a rule that says that two opposition kits cannot be the same colour or close to it? Is socks and shorts? I seem to remember occasions where socks were changed so as not to clash.

Midfield are too weak in the challenges

    Well done Moreno.
Why that lad can't just control the situation without given away silly freekicks is beyond me.

    Worth sticking this on lads?

I was wondering the same thing. I remember teams having to change shorts or socks that clashed, and just looked odd with the rest of the kit they were wearing.

Sunderland won it. You should watch it back. Large Samuel was happy with the result.

He must have backed himself to not get injured and doesn't want to chance it. Stands to win a fortune if he can start the next game as well.
