Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Too much work for Mikel in midfield to do, too much space to cover and too easy for Lucas to turn and run at the backline.

    good man mikel!

Yeah, fabregas isn't an ideal partner for him in a game like tonight. Too much space as you said.

That was terrible equalising from Mikel.

Good man mikel. Always rated him :)

Lucas has looked lively, Hazard too for his team, Di Maria has looked busy but gone out of it and been wasteful to a large degree, Ibra is Ibra.

PSG will be disgusted with themselves to concede like that before half time. It was shocking!

Game on for the second half, oh that defending is criminal. Mikel makes up for his cowardice.

Goal scoring Mikel bringing us right back into it.

Always knew he'd come good with his goal every 300 games ratio.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Mikel will surely get sent off to continue on his rollercoaster night.

Chelsea the better team and fully deserved the equaliser. If only the lads played like this for Jose.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,216 ✭✭✭✭StringerBell

Wouldn't say either team was clearly the better, both had good spells and level at half time is fair.

Some lad, can always rely on him! Exciting game, definitely more goals.

I'm probably over excited at seeing the lads play so cohesively against a top side. Christ, even hazard looks like he's bothered

A tale of two free kicks. If Mikel didn't move and stayed still he would have blocked Ibra's attempt with his leg. Motta stood still and blocked Willian's attempt which was on target and going in with his head. Happy though for Mikel getting the equaliser. Chelsea didn't deserve to go in a goal behind.

If they played with this level of focus and determination all season they'd be title contenders, never mind top 4. Very impressive against a much fancied PSG side away from home. Hazard is a joy to watch when he turns it on and that left back looks good too.

Strange half, for 20 minutes Chelsea barely got a kick of the ball and then, with Fabregas dropping deeper and Hazard's ball-carrying skills giving Chelsea more control and putting the London club in the ascendency, it's PSG who take the lead. Chelsea's response was good and the equaliser deserved.

Just some things in that half; Mikel has been asked to do too much defensively, any time the game has become even slightly stretched and the midfield bank of 4 has been broken Lucas and Di Maria have been able to come off the line and exploit space in the centre, Matuidi has been able to get in there too.

Against top opposition usually that's when you see the real level of top players. Hazard has had an entirely indifferent season yet he's been excellent here, his class has told. Willian has had a really good season, no doubt about it but it's clear that Hazard's ceiling is higher, he's a class above.

Fabregas had done a good job tonight as he has the last couple of games in just dropping very deep, almost an Alonso like position for Bayern Munich, and dictating things from there. It gives Chelsea a base to build and was crucial in the increase in possession mid way through that half.

Very even overall, 1-1 is definitely a fair reflection.

PSG are anything special. I'd fancy Chelsea too turn them over in the second half.

Anyone else think that's a free for Hazard?????

Cahill is petrified of ibra, dropping far too deep on his own to try and mark him

5 against 4, 4 against 3, they certainly had an extra man there - Michael Owen.

Who is whistling into a mic on TV3 coverage when a change happens?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Barr

Chelsea got out of jail there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,216 ✭✭✭✭StringerBell

Chelsea starting to really hang on here a bit. PSG need to find the net though or they will be stung.

Chelsea have their own private forum now do they? Very quiet here. Shame if true, always feel boards is a good spot to come for outside views and getting a good input from a cross section of fans. Plenty of fan sites around with forums dedicated to just the one team.

    Anyway

Big moment in the game here potentially

Oscar very unlucky there. If he had been on the pitch a few minutes earlier and caught up with the pace of the game would he have gotten there?

Cavani is a top class cf, he'd be a great signing for a pl team. He blows hot and cold but he's always mobile and likely to get chances.
