Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I remember someone on here posting about a ridiculously cheap car hire company. Does anyone remember the name??

Don't have a recommendation for cheap car hire but we bought excess insurance for our last trip home and it drastically reduced the cost, as we normally go for the full cover. We used www.icarhireinsurance.com we ended up actually using it and making a claim about 300e, refunded no issues.

If i can butt in on the thread, I would be interested to know if anyone can recommend a way to rent a car long term (10 weeks) that won't require selling a kidney at the moment i can't even get a quote!

I use carhire3000.com, rentalscars.com(same site) all cars come with a minimum level of insurance and skyscanners rental car section(make sure car has minimum level of insurance)
Be careful with the deposit you have to leave, the last time I was at budget carhire, I was asked to leave a deposit of a 1000euro with my credit card, then they asked some german lad for 2,100,refundable deposit in the form of a hold on his credit card, which he didnt have, and was forced to pay 500 for extra insurance, a total scam if you ask me, its being a long time since credit card companies gave out cards with massive limits.
I have used rental cars alot in different countries and my normal deposit(hold on credit card) is usually 0-300, I guess ireland is the exception
