What fruit are you using for the crumble? My favourite was simply apple and sultana.

:) Hope the weather holds up for the Christening :)

Thank you, smells nice anyway :)

I made four crumbles, one big one with a mixture and three smaller/mini ones.

The "big" one has raspberries, strawberries, orange, dark choc, mixed seeds and vanilla extract. Just fecked the seeds/choc/vanilla in when I found them in the press lol. :o

The mini ones are: plain raspberry, plain strawberry, orange with dark chocolate and cinnamon.

They smell lovely, so I hope they taste as nice.

I misread your post as slimy apple and sultana :o Apple and strawberry is lovely as is strawberry and blackberry. Blackberries can be bitter though.

It delicious. Oh my god I didn't expect it to be so nice. The dark is maybe a bit strong for a crumble but its delicious all the same. I would also probably use the small oranges (mandarins/clementines) in future as they are sweeter and not as bitter as the big oranges that I used.

Looking forward to trying the others out soon. ;)

Orange and chocolate is a winner of a combination, just never thought about it in a crumble. Mmmmmmm tummy porn....

It is a winner most definitely. I didn't either until it was all I'd left to use so I said feck it I'd give it at a go.

Its certainly different to other crumbles I've had before. :)

Are you using a standard sugar/flour/butter/spices crumble or do you add oats/seeds etc?

Standard. Flour, butter, cinnamon, sugar and butter. I did put some seeds on the mixed crumble but haven't tried that yet, the seeds are on top of the fruit, under the crumb mix.

I've tried porridge oats before in a crumble and didn't like them at all. Didn't use the regular Flavahans oats though used some other ones which could have been it maybe.

I prefer that standard mix myself, also having tried oats, the crumble just doesn't bind while baking with them in, i don't want the crumble to be total sawdust altogether

    ;):D

    Here we go.

    Strawberry

    S-berry_zpsp3i6qb1p.jpg

Raspberry - not much sauce from this one unlike the strawberry one :/

    Rberry_zpsvszrcxvd.jpg

    Dark choc and orange.

    Big one with mixed seeds/fruits

The big one before going into the oven :)

The crumb mix looks really dry in those pics and its not at all like that in reality. I don't know why its looking like that in the pics :/

I hope so. I am most looking forward to the raspberry one. I can't wait for that.

I might make an apple one during the week with plenty of cinnamon and a dash of whiskey or brandy. I love a dash of whiskey or brandy in an apple crumble/tart, it really adds to it I think. :)
