Hi I have a lad looking for me to wire up an old phone ringer as his door bell. I know im not on the right forum but i cant find anything else to put this on. Phone lines are usually around 48v ac i think correct me if i'm wrong and do they go up around 110v ac when there ringing? I was thinking of just putting a…

72 Volts AC - 25 Hertz is standard for bell ringing.
50 Volts DC is standard for a telephone line

When the phone rings a capacitor (about 1.8 Micro Farads) will detect the AC and send it to the bell.

You could wire in to a Ring Equivalence Number (REN) booster
