Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Had my Ioniq serviced today and got an I30 for the day.

Lovely new 191 car. I detested it! Back to manual gears, sluggish on the road compared to the Ioniq. I couldn't wait to collect my car again.

How much does a service on the Ioniq cost?

Similar experience last year. Had a brand spanking new ix20 as a replacement car and I hated it.

I paid EUR0.00 for the first 15k km service after one year. The dealer was about to tell me how much it was going to cost, but I was having none of it. The car needed a software update as the old firmware was faulty. It also needed the charge port actuator replacing (recall) and the ECU inspected (recall). Took 2 days. I challenged them that it should not cost anything after all that hassle and they conceded.

I did pay EUR45 for the bootliner though, so they did make a little bit of money off me :p

Coming up to my 2 year and 30k km service now. I don't expect it to cost much either.

My car's in for it's first today. I got a nice surprise! My car came with a 5 service pack included. I was in for a calibration on the LKAS camera after a new screen and as I was booking it in for the service I was told it would be free. Happy days.

I remember haggling hard, but I forgot that I haggled in a service pack. :D

People often forget about service packs, I always phone the manufacturers before buying second hand to check, my current CRV had a 5 yr service pack that the dealer did not know about so I ended up with 3 free services

Did the screen replacement company not do that? They did for me. Or were you not happy with the results?

They replaced the screen at the dealer, but the tech there had to do the calibration. This was with Autoglass.

I'm heading up to Frank Keane now to give them 400 Euro's of my hard earned, blame the Rex haha.

Oil, filter, Brake fluid , wash and I hope a full charge or else..........

Still, every 2 years regardless of mileage, I don't really care and it's a possibility I won't be servicing it again because my PCP is up in November 2020. Yikes, nearly half way there already !

Now to figure out what this live charger info is all about. :D

Last time a main dealer washed my car after a service it took them 3 days to repair the paint damage after..

I haven't had the chance to poke around in it, but there is live charger info. It's in the nav POI chargepoint section. Also, rapid chargers are now included on the map.

Only have my 171 Ioniq for 48hrs but already WOW! Some difference from my 151 L24; my 65km commute home (from 100%) used to leave me with around 40% L24 battery - now 75%!
Comfort & gadgets galore too :D
Also can now make full use of the 4 32amp chargers at work too :D:D
The Auto Hold feature is great - as are the 3 levels of regen.
    Great car all round!!

You're right. There is no regen at level 0. It's still a level, so there are 4 levels as Silent Running tried to explain:

    0
    1
    2
    3

    :)

Did I see some review mention that the auto hold was off by default, and the car doesn't remember what it was set to once you turn off the car? ie. I turn on autohold today, but tomorrow it's back to the default "off" position.

Yep, that's the case. It's one of the buttons that I hit when I'm starting up. Along with the noisemaker off and turning on cruise control.

That's right. Same as the driving mode. Every Ioniq owner has a default combination of clicks when they get in their car. For me it's just: car on, sports mode. For some it is car on, sports mode, auto hold, vess etc maybe we should have a poll to see what's most popular :p

I had my 2 years service recently on my 171 Ioniq with 18,000km on clock
It cost me 140 euro from Airside Swords Dealer in Dublin. I would be interested in how much others paid for the 2 year service

The 2 years service is slightly different to a 1 year service in that they also change the brake fluid in addition to the cabin pollen filter. I had rotated my tyres myself about 6 months ago to put the worn tyres from the front to the rear, as the front tyres wear more, and the rear wear little to nothing.

They charged me 5 Euro for the brake fluid. They charged me 100 Euro for the labour which I would expect is slightly less for the 1 year service which does not include the brake fluid change.

They also gave the car a once over and a wash outside, but did not clean inside. I asked before about a loaner car and they mentioned I would need to transfer my own comprehensive insurance over, so I did not do that.

My next service is due in a years time or at 33,000KM

Note the cabin pollen filter is hyundai part number 97133G2000 which seems to be shared with other cars and available online. They charged me 36 Euro for this filter, which is probably a bit excessive.

Overall I was happy enough, but I would urge others to shop around, and you could change the pollen filter yourself and save 15+ Euro.
The cabin pollen filter cross references to the following makes:

    Anyone here?

Hello BEV-heads, I recently joined your gang when I traded in my 06 Lexus is250 for a 172 ioniq. Absolutely love it and I get such a kick out of the cost savings. Even though the Lexus was 13 years old it was really well spec’d, and whatever we got had a lot to live up to!

Autohold, lane assist, reverse camera and apple car play are really nice features, but I do miss my memory seat settings, electric seats, touch door unlock and the plushness of the lexus interior. In terms of driving it has great poke, possibly better than the v6 lexus? But it doesn’t handle nearly as well, and if I’m too heavy on the accelerator I get spinney wheels :D.

Thankfully we got our home charger installed the day after we got it because my two experiences with the public network didn’t go well. If I’m lucky I can also park beside a 13amp socket in work which is awesome. All and all another happy ioniq-er!

I spun the wheels passing two vans and a tractor this morning. The BMW tailgating me didn't know what hit him I'd say :D

Still no home charger for me, been going to the local rapid every two or three days with no issues so far. Hopefully get the zappi in later this week.

Welcome to boards, mioniqa and well wear :)

If the road isn't bone dry you get wheel spin alright. My front tyres are nearly gone after just 29k km :D

You can get better tyres with more grip though, that's what I plan on getting next.

  • Registered Users Posts: 61 ✭✭mioniqa

Thanks unkel, I'll look into that when we get new ones...they might need to be changed soon as I suspect it still has the original tyres on it, the dealership insisted it didn't need new ones but I'm not entirely convinced!

This thread has been a valuable resource by the way, when I had 'flu in January I read through most of it!

Or if you don't floor it everywhere you'll be grand. I sold mine with just under 40kkm on the original tires and still plenty of tread left

I got (from memory) 80k out of the fronts and 100k out of the rears on my L24 so I might just be easier on them?

If I'm going to be burning rubber and spinning wheels I have cars for that which are driven from the correct (rear) wheels!

Ioniqs are FWD ecoboxes so I don't see the need to waste money on tires. #selfconfessedcheapskate

Absolutely. Doesn't prevent them from being very quick and handy driveabouts. Always the first away from the lights, smallest gap in traffic at a roundabout will see you through swiftly, etc.

As for RWD, I also have a 32 year old automatic Mercedes for cruising and a flat 6 Porsche for bruising :p both fully taxed, insured, tested

The effortless driving of the Ioniq (or pretty much any EV) makes me take it for the day to day driving most of the time though...

Bit of a noob to newer cars question this but how does one avail of the free AA roadside assistance exactly? Do you have to register with the AA somehow for it or is it just tied to the fact you have a Hyundai car that is less than 5 years old?

I have a sticker in the window with a number to call. The dealership put it there. I’d say just contact the dealership if it’s not there.

There's no sticker on mine, he just gave me the phone number as he said they had no stickers left. It's not a big deal as I have breakdown cover on the insurance I suppose.

Just a lazy dealer. Why won't it be done? Press them on that. My next service is coming up in the next month or two and I'll make damn sure both software and maps are updated.

I'm told they have to shut down all diagnostic machines and basically the workshop to download what's required. Which I found a bit ridiculous

    What is car 171?

What rev is firmware 09/2017 or older?

If older I would try insist on it as it fixes timer forgetting settings and battery drain problems.

I spoke to dealer before on my 171 and he said it may not be 'approved' for my specific vehicle, but could be put on if I had specific problems. A couple of weeks later 12v battery died and they updated car to 09/2017 and 12v battery has been OK since. I am not sure if that is an excuse, but may be that they don't want to update unnecessarily . There is slight differences even in different months so different vehicles may have updates recommended while others only if a specific issue occurs. They even said sometimes beta software is issued to try fix specific issues on particular cars as needed.

Yeah I've heard it all before. Also that the download takes 8 hours. Just tell them it's fine, they can start it all up when they close on a Saturday afternoon, it should be done when they come back in on the Monday morning :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,819 ✭✭✭Silent Running

Mine was in for a service last week. They were to do the updates, but gave me some guff about files and compatibility, so they couldn't do it. I had the files on an SD card, so I did the firmware update while the co-pilot was in Tesco. I had the map SD already, so just changed the stock one to that to get 2019 maps back again.

Dealers know less about these cars than we do. :D

Yup. And I've the ammo ready to force the dealer to install the very latest firmware free of charge: it fixes the issue that the car can only bluetooth connect to one phone at a time (exact details escape me but are available online). Tell them both you and the wife need to be connected at the same time, the car is faulty as is, but the upgrade fixes it.

Bug fix means free under warranty :D

Hi all. Wondering if anybody has bought a new Ioniq under PCP. If so, what was the GMFV figure, relative to the purchase price?

Head is in a spin the last few weeks deciding what to do in terms of changing/not changing. Cannot get a Nissan dealer to get within €2,000 of trade-in value on a leaf, compared to other dealers on similarly-priced ICE models. With my mileage, the fuel savings probably don't cover that gap in terms of monthly payments but I have my head turned in the BEV direction!

Was looking at buying a banger, selling my own privately and then getting scrappage on an Ioniq but Hyundai put paid to that idea! Would love to think they'd offer it again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,926 ✭✭✭Soarer

If you're not in a hurry, I reckon they'll all be offering scrappage in the next 12 months.
