Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yeah neither am I. But if you wrap the grille and the roof in glossy black and tint the rear windows, it will end up not half bad.

Personally I would pick another colour. Any other colour! Sorry to white Ioniq owners, no offense meant - that's just my personal taste!

Wrapping certainly helps. Tint in the back too means I never use the parcel shelf.

White is my favourite colour in the Ioniq...:D

Always looks sharp, looks cleaner when a little dirty, safer in poor weather/vis, and cooler/ more efficient in hot weather. Just stay away from cow sh1te.:)

I don't like the white wheels though..

I'm not anti white cars btw, I've owned 2 including my Leaf which is white.

But for some reason the white Ioniq appears more white than a white Leaf if that doesn't sound stupid!

It is. It's a whiter white than my wifes Nissan Note. Think it's "polar white", and the name is justified whenever I wash both cars (I wash mine, I throw a sympathetic splash of water over the Note).

Hi there, thinking of Ioniq EV, saw a 2019 one on the web up north for £20k, was interested but nagging issue was whether the Odo/Speedo/Cruise Control could display in Km rather than Miles.

I have imported a Uk prius and whilst the odo is in miles, speedo display can switch between miles or km.

Anyone confirm what can be displayed in KM on an imported Ioniq.

The price of £20k circ €22k for 2019 with 8000 miles was apealing, as cheapest down south for 2019 was just shy of €26k, so say €25k for cash.

    Thanks in advance,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,236 ✭✭✭✭ELM327

The speedo and odometer (and cruise control setting, trips etc) will still be in miles and cannot be changed.
You get a digital readout in KM/H below the speedometer.

There was a super condition 2019 Ioniq for sale for a long time here (owned by one of the regulars) for €23k, but it looks like you just missed it, as it says "reserved" and "deposit taken" on the electricautos.ie website. You could give them a ring of course to get an update on that

  • Registered Users Posts: 180 ✭✭cloughy

Saw that one, it had 50k km, other had circ 13k, not saying anything wrong with the one in electricautos,

For the sake of about €1k would buy irish car, but next cheapest 19 one with low kms was over €25k

Does it have to be a 2019? There are more 2017 Ioniqs around, from about €17k occasionally for a white one, but realistically mostly from about €19k

Doesnt have to be 2019, but 19k for a car that will be 4yrs old in a few months, that could have been bought got circ €26k is a lot, €17k would be a runner.

I saw a 17d one in Dublin for just under €20k but it was sold in a short time.

I have a 09 prius and just had the cat stolen, so looking to replace with an EV.

If you go up a few posts, you'll find the one I linked to which can be had for about €17.5k. It might be 3.5 years old at this stage, but that means you still have 1.5 years of bumper to bumper manufacturer warranty and 4.5 years warranty on the battery and drive train left

I might agree with you if you could show me All the 2017 Ioniqs for 18k.

The cheapest I can see on DD is 19300 and a private sale...the cheapest from dealers are nearly 20k and some dealers are even 22k.

I know of two 2017 black Ioniqs sold in the last two months that both went for sub €18k and both were from dealers.
“Asking” prices are exactly that. A dealer will do anything they can to prevent a cash buyer walking off the forecourt right now.

Maybe so, but it's awkward for me who is too far to travel to some of these dealers in the hope they knock 2k off a car, which lets be honest isn't likely.

If I call and ask what best price is they might think I'm a chancer who has no interest in buying.

I'll keep an eye out but the Leaf is still doing a decent job for me as it is, so no panic to change just yet.

The charge port has gone my 2018 plugin Ioniq. When I plug in the cable (granny or normal) you can hear the actuator trying to move if you put your ear close to it.

I see a few folks mention that there is a recall on these? I can't find anything official on it though.
I'll be taking it to Hyundai dealer in Limerick - any feedback on them?

I bought it as an import earlier in the year so first time taking it to an Irish garage.

I bought an imported demo 2018 in March of 2018.
I've has all my services done in Limerick. Services are between 50 and 80 (dependent on filter replacements).
I've has to get my actuator fixed on warranty a few months ago. I had it towed to the nearest dealership, which was castlebar. I dealt with then over the phone and they replaced under warranty without issue or question. They were actually very nice

There is/was a recall on it a few years ago. I had mine replaced before I bought the car, but that one failed me about 2 months ago. Took Kearys 4 weeks to get a replacement part for me as there was none in Ireland, UK or Europe and it had to come from Korea. Another user here said it took his dealer no time at all as they had a few of the part in stock.

You can "reset" the charge port so it might work again temporarily. Open the boot, lift the false floor, and in the well near the back bumper (center right) there's a flap you can open. It is a charge port actuator emergency release. Give that a yank, then lock, unlock the car. Plug the cable in, and see does it lock in place. It'll get you by if you're stuck.

Perfect! Sounds like it should be no issue then.

Thanks, I'll give that a lash. Joys of it being a phev is that I'm not too badly off. But it would be nicer to go back to running on EV 99% of the time.

Ah, it's a plug in. Not sure where the release cable is so. Check the manual I guess, but there should be one. First I've heard of the phev one having this issue, though I guess not many sold here as far as I know

You might yet own one again! We have been a one family car household since the last recession hit hard in 2008, but we will probably need a second car in a year or so. If I can afford one, the Ioniq would be top of the list

The owner used to be a regular poster here. Nice guy, I met him in early 2017 when we both just got our classic Ioniq 28kWh. Hopefully the reason for his selling is that he is moving back to the country where he is from (and not some adverse circumstances). The car is on finance though, so beware. It's a pity he doesn't mention the price. But I doubt it's a bargain. Smart move to offer it for sale on facebook - that place is full of people who pay way over the odds for stuff :p

Anyone used Hyundai Waterford for servicing the car? How did you find them on price? Due one in a few weeks.191 model with 41,000km on it now. This will be its third service. Can’t leave Waterford with the restrictions so can’t shop around for the best price unfortunately.

There really is very, very little to do in these services. The cabin filter is changed in the 3rd, so it's more expensive.
Our 3rd service on the Ioniq was €85 IIRC, Hyundai limerick.

Cabin filter and brake fluid are every second service iirc. Third service is just an inspection, like the first service. I would agree a price up front, but I would certainly have a robust conversation with the dealer if they quoted you a 3 figure sum for it.

yes, I can confirm that in alternation every other year you'll have either health check or service when they are supposed to change the brake fluid and cabin filter. :)

And they love to tell you that they are doing the software updates, so you think you are getting some value for the possible 3 figure fee.:)

We had trouble getting the updates done (Even though they agreed on a full service before we collected our second hand car). They tried to say it would be done at the next service...

  • Registered Users Posts: 111 ✭✭jeremy_g

yeah, remember couple of months ago, though I am certain I was on the latest software (checked before and after) they insisted on mentioning they did software and maps upgrade. :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 86 ✭✭Efitz2019

Thanks for the replies just wanted to get an idea of what others paid so I know what to expect. I’ll make sure to agree a price before hand. Will definitely need the maps to be updated. Fairly sure I’m on older software.

Recently got ioniq done first service, just shy of 160 euros... robbed me

    Our first three services were €50, €80 & €50.

Maybe they had to replace a tyre or wipers or something?

    My first service was €0.00
    My second service was €0.00
And I sold the car just when the third service was due :p

(and no, I did not buy a service plan when I bought the car - just asked the sales manager nicely if he would do it for free each time the service was due)

I did spend about €50 on the official boot liner though!

Recently got ioniq done first service, just shy of 160 euros... robbed me and will not be going back. Will definitely ring around next time. D3 area. Anyone know what latest updates should be?

160 is common in Dublin with brake fluid change. You can buy pollen filter yourself delivered from.Poland and install it with no tools for 11 euro. Some dealers will try do things like brake fluid too often.

Make sure you photograph your software version screen before and after, as mentioned here dealers will make excuses to not do updates. Also email hyundai Ireland with reg or vin and confirm if all recalls completed. There is basically nothing to do in their check, so change the cabin filter yourself, see when brake fluid was last replaced and shop around. I got mine for 100 when I replaced filter myself in 60 seconds. I waited while software update (free) and service was done, which was zero parts. They did supply free air for the tyres. I asked them not to wash car.

  • Registered Users Posts: 304 ✭✭CarefulNow!

Service was ball park 90 labour, 39 filter plus tax. No other details

Edit. 107 "service" and 30 for pollen filter

Going a bit off topic but
The Ioniq 5 will be first South Korean electric vehicle to support 350kW ultra-fast charging

They must have read the 38kWh reviews here..

Its more of a Niro size vehicle I think.

    https://thekoreancarblog.com/2020/10/19/hyundai-ioniq-5-caught-with-production-lights/amp/

    From April 2021 in Korea.

Its not listed as an option here:
    https://www.openvehicles.com/forum

Its very unlikely you will ever get remote preheating working, while it is in theory possible, in practice no-one has found a way and with the car off and asleep it might not have the ability to wake up from a message sent via the ODB port.

If you were handy at programming it should be possible to get the charge levels displayed, and indeed the kona settings might work out of the box.

There is other options for displaying charge levels such as canioniq or torque. Search for ioniq and odb2. There is some YouTube videos too. In order to get them far from the car you need something with a sim card such as an old phone, or a dedicated box. In reality I know my charge level, remote heating is only nice to have, but it not really necessary with heated seat and heat pump. I use timer for morning preheat and put up with first 2 minutes of cold after work.

What I would like is car parked at house and not connected or not charging warning. I have forgotten to plug in 4 times in the space of 2 years. My work around is a timer on my phone at 9pm daily to remind me. Not exactly high tech, but not 250 dollars with a data subscription either.

Another nice feature would be a charging stopped warning at public chargers either due to charger fault or someone hitting the emergency top button. I would like the message notification to ring with a "fight, fight" message and some Rocky music.

    Hello All,

considering selling my Ioniq, I have not used it properly for 6+ months as I am working from home.

It is 2017 and has about 97k km on the clock, what do you think could I get for it? Based in Mayo if anybody wants to come and have a look.

You're in a terrible location for selling your car during the lockdown. I wouldn't even bother putting it up until people can freely travel the country again. Best of luck with the sale!

I am aware of that, and I have not listed it yet. Might just wait until the end of lockdown.. I am not under pressure to sell, but it is not a good economic sense to have something for around 18k that is losing value every day and not using it.. :)

How quickly do you want to sell it? That mileage you'd probably be advertising around 18k, but it'll hang around for a bit I imagine and most likely into the new year if i'm honest (not a great time to see outside of pandemic/lockdown season). If you want it gone asap 17k should attract buyers enough to snap it up i'd imagine. Either way, lockdown/Christmas isn't going to help you sell.
