Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. OK, so I'm starting to come around to the idea of Mourinho being United manager. Now that I've done that it'll probabvly not happen but finally after years of saying I didn't want him it's starting to creep in.

I saw this posted in RC, pretty fecking amazing record.

His managerial career so far. (Some of the FA Cups are Copa Del Reys.)
Season 1 - League, Uefa Cup
Season 2 - League, Champions League
Season 3 - League, League Cup
    Season 4 - League
Season 5 - FA cup, League cup
    Season 6 - League
Season 7 - League, FA cup, Champions League
    Season 8 - FA Cup
    Season 9 - League
    Season 10 -
Season 11 - Hilariously ended Liverpool's title dream.
Season 12 - League, League Cup

Yes he needed to go when he did and get some game time under his belt. How many games did he play compared to Rafa who was injured half the time, I'd say the ratio was about 10:1 in rafa's favour

You can say what you want about Jose the person, but you can't say that Jose the manager doesn't deliver trophies. Really enjoyed reading season 11 earlier

i dont mind the trophy-less period we have, weve had a great 10-15 years so i can do without a trophy for a while - it would be nice to win FA cup though.

however, my biggest issue is we seem to be becoming irrelevent at the top table of football and we are now in a suituation where very few fans are confident of us winning any game, no matter who we are playing. nobody fears us, nobody respects us - a top manager like Jose would bring that back.

if jose came in, i think getting top 3 next season would be first step and maybe winning league cup or something like that.

I see, if I understand the point you are making is that he started off incredibly and then peaked at season 7 and has been patchy ever since only managing 2 league titles from season 8 to season 12 so we should steer well clear as he is very obviously in decline! :pac:

Arsenal went through ****e there for how many years. At least they were always in the top 4 and playing mostly very good football.

His rough period came in a time when he was completely at a disadvantage, up against one of the best club squads of all time. If you swapped the level of quality there is no chance his period between 2010-2013 would be so barren

Fergie always came second to Pep, and it wasn't because of their respective managerial abilities

If the club are smart and make it a somewhat level playing field with City and Arsenal then he will do the business

You could only say his "rough period" is over by discounting season 13 which was the worst of his career.

the 6 teams who are currently in europe have only won 13 out of 41 games played the weekend after mid-week european games.

the longer City and Spurs stay in, the better for us you would imagine. i can see both of them doing much better than us in Europe, so it coud leave the door open in the league....slightly. spurs have only 3 wins out of 13 in the Thursday-Sunday turnaround.

Liverpool have the worst record of all, only 1 win.

If it wasn't for Liverpool, this season could have felt so much worse. You always think 'Christ this season is so bad', but then you remember, oh no wait......

    Thank you Liverpool

As a Villa fan thats all we can hold onto at the moment, we may be getting relegated, but hey at least Liverpool fans have to wait another year for it to be their year.
Next year will be awesome, they have Klopp one of the best around, it will be amazing when they finish 7th :D

Was anything said about smalling - seemingly he didn't rain yesterday but I didn' see any mention of him following the press conference.

Without him in defence I would worry, even more, about us on defensive set pieces,

Think LVG said he did train and would be ok.

Going to be some atmosphere tonight if we don't win. First game back at OT for a while now...

    expecting 30,000 empty seats tonight.

i initially didn't opt in as i couldn't commit to going.

Normally our section is full regardless of the game (cheapest seats) so i expected they would be re-sold when i called them.

was able to buy them no problem, so i would sorry that alot of people have opted out and have no interest in going.

No Smalling or BoJack in the squad for tonight.... :(

8 academy players in the squad

    https://twitter.com/amckeeganMEN/status/702829434064277504
Eight #mufc academy players in tonight's squad. Poole, Riley, Rashford, Love, and Joel Pereira among those included.

So then do you reckon it's just going to be a concentrated group of hardcores, and casuals stayed at home? Or did the hardcores save their money for the "bigger" match this weekend?

Wondering what sort of crowd will be there; one that will be very vocal about a loss or one that will want to "beat the traffic" and sit on their hands...

alot of the away fans are forced into going to these games, as if you opt out then your away application rights are taken away for rest of the season

so ya, different group to normal games and would think a "hardcore" element as you say.

would expect the team to be very well supported tonight to be honest.

I would take a loss tonight for a win on Sunday, the league is still our best chance for CL, however slim that chance is

United squad for tonight - should be fun...

Romero, Joel Pereira, Love, Varela, Poole, Rojo, Blind, McNair, Riley, Herrera, Schneiderlin, Carrick, Lingard, Mata, Andreas Pereira, Memphis, Martial, Rashford.

    Romero
    Varela--McNair--Blind-Riles
    Schneiderlin--Herrera
    Lingard
    Mata
    Memphis
    Martial

Rashford, Pereira, Carrick, Rojo, Poole, Love, Pereira.

Reckon he is more likely to want to play Carrick on Sunday so won't start hi tonight.

Football365 have done top 5 of United comebacks for tonight. No. 1, surprise surprise, is this:

    1) vs Bayern Munich, European Cup final, May 1999
“That balmy night in Barcelona”. The plain white Nike ball with the large black swoosh. Silver Bayern shirts with maroon trim, like an Aston Villa kit designed by David Bowie. Montserrat Caballé singing ‘Barcelona’, with Freddie Mercury accompanying her on the big screen. No Paul Scholes. No Roy Keane. Jesper Blomqvist. Ronny Johnsen’s foul on Carsten Jancker. Mario Basler’s free-kick. Markus Babbel’s missed header amid Bayern dominance. Peter Schemichel’s fingertip save from Stefan Effenberg. Mehmet Scholl’s shot off the post, into the hands of Schmeichel; game still on, just. Jancker’s overhead kick off the bar; game still on, just. Three minutes of injury time. Schmeichel up for the corner. Giggs shot. Sheringham stabs home. Jubilation. Another corner. No Schmeichel this time. Sheringham flicks on. Solskjaer the only one there. Roof of the net. Arms aloft. Sliding on knees. Cartwheels at the other end. Pierluigi Collina picking Bayern players off the turf. Sami Kuffour beating the pitch hard enough to make the whole world shake. Football, bloody hell
